this. absolutely this. i really hope Torts can see passed his crush on John Mitchell. this kid better see ice time over him. just sticking him in there to suck up SOME of Mitchell's ice time would benefit the team.
Depends how he looks in practice. Regardless of the fact that he's only played college, the kid possess great skill and speed. The game is the same, its just quicker. He has the speed to match. He is a hockey player, its not like he's going to be playing tennis now. Relax.
Him in place of John Mitchell is worth a look. He will get his chance.
Here is a quote from Hagelin
"
"It was a tough transition, for sure," Hagelin told ESPNNewYork.com. "I was happy I was able to go through the Traverse City rookie camp, get a taste of it and get a couple of preseason games in, but obviously I wasn't ready. It was good to go down in the (AHL) and realize that the game is much more patient than in college."
"You've got to be smarter up here, that's for sure," he said.
If he dresses in the playoffs, he would use up an entry-level year. Players are not paid for the playoffs, and Kreider apparently would receive a games-played bonus. Or he could be sent to AHL Hartford first.
He said it's unlikely that he'll get straight into a playoff game right out of college, not that he won't possibly play at all.
If the Rangers make a deep run, it's going to be weeks of practices with the team for Kreider and chances to get into the lineup depending on what happens.
I don't think the Rangers will force him into the lineup at all, but I think they'll definitely play him if it looks like he's their best option

Agreed.
They will take it easy with him. No need to rush things.
They likely want him with several practices before they play him.
I don't know he helps us for a playoff run or at least initially. I really doubt he plays in our starting games. He would have had only about one day of practice time with the team.
He may get a look if we take a quick lead in the series. I really doubt they are going to rush him into the lineup.
With that said, this is great for our lineup next season.
Hagelin has the 3rd most ES-points on this team, and is a +21. He has not played like crap at ES.
No he hasn't....MY bad for not qualifying...I meant the last few weeks where their performances have really sagged..Up till then, I thought Hags and Step were having great seasons....Hopefully, the time off and the opponents gets them back on track..
I really hope Kreider helps out with some depth. I'd like to see him on a line with Boyle and Anisimov or if he's really ready to step up in a big way put him with Stepan and Cally while Dubinksy slides down to play with Boyle and Anisimov
He has to play in one NHL game to become part of the NHLPA — thus allowing EA to put him in the game Besides, I'm waiting for NHL12 to drop to the $30 or less range. Sick of paying $60 for the same damn game every year. (Might even wait for NHL 13)
