I don't think it's ever a bad idea to give your prospect his 4 years of junior. I'm against rushing them.

Too bad it's CHL or NHL for all Canadian Hockey League draftees.

The AHL isn't an option for them at this time.

That very well could change in the new CBA. But then again, I could see that being something the PA would concede for a concession they want.

I thought it was something that the CHL imposed instead of the NHLPA.

I could be wrong though.

Yes, if it's Yakupov and Yes, if we trade it for Nash

Whoever it is, he'll be around for 9 games and then sent back.

It is too bad they couldn;t go to the Marlies because right now that is an excellent atmosphere to develop in and Eakins is a coach I greatly admire to develop players properly.

Since that can't happen, I'd hope they'd let the player remain in the minors to finish his development. There is no urgency to fill a roster spot. I just hope they don;t give him the Naz treatment, and treat the kid like a damn yo-yo!!

Depends entirely on who we choose.

if it's not Yakupov, probably not. if you don't wanna break up the 2nd line and it'd be crazy to start them on the 1st, you're left with the 3rd line, where they'd be 'behind' players like Kadri, Frattin, and Colborne in the pecking order.

even Yakupov's not a 100% game one guarantee. i think teams are moving away from that unless you're a Crosby-level dominant talent - why waste a year of a guy in the majors if he'll struggle through half of it, if you can postpone it a year and minimize his struggles?

A better question is will our pick Nazem Kadri play a full NHL season next year? Also do Colborne and Blacker have legit shots to secure roster spots?

Didn't Perry and Getzlaf play a season in the A? I don't think BB will change this philosophy.

I have seen OHL highlights of Yakupov cutting into the middle of offensive zone with his head down and getting rocked. He is going to have to learn quickly he can not do this in NHL or he will find himself on infirmary bed.
