Reason: ...
Not a Sharks fan and I know they weren't mentioned but Couture/Pavelski + Boyle/Burns seems like a good starting point if SJ wants Nash + the 1st and two pieces coming back that could help you guys. I'm sure Sharks fans wouldn't be happy with this though.
Nash + Yakupov
for
Gardiner (would hate it) + Gunnar (somewhat expandable) + Kadri (kid needs playing time) + 1st(likely 5th-6th)
I'd hesitate. But we get the best player and likely the best prospect. CLB wouldnt pull the trigger fast either.
Wanna add Tyler Biggs, Reimer, Bozak, and your 1st in 2013? Because I think that is about what it would take for Scott Howson to agree to this. I'm not bashing your proposal, I just think that Howson would do everything in his power to bleed Burke dry on a deal of this magnitude
We've heard rumblings that Columbus might trade their 1st rounder and we've heard more than enough media speculation and reports from Nash and Columbus' GM that Nash is on the trade block.
I know it sounds crazy, but I wish to ask the following:
Is there a team out there which could offer a package worthy of a Nash + 1st overall return and what would be a fair offer.?
Probably not. Unless there is another unhappy star player that needs to be traded, I think Columbus needs the big name to help draw more fans. Besides I doubt there is a team in the league that could put together the assets to do it without destroying their depth. The asking price for Nash was huge, how much more do you think would be needed to get the 1st as well?
Florida is the only team that comes to mind that could pull this off simply because their prospect pool is stacked. Huberdeau, Bjugstad (SP), Kulikov, Grubandson, young roster players, picks and etc. If they really wanted Nash + Yakupov/Murray/Grigs they could get it.

It's basically Huberdeau, Kulikov and then some. Seems insane IMO.
Also, I don't think any team can pay for this package and still be a playoff team.

I see this too. Whether or not he's pressured to trade these 2 assets, I see Howson doing his utmost to squeeze as much as he can out of whatever team will be getting both. This means we utterly gut our defense and prospect system, while having a forward heavy core. We'd start looking like Edmonton.....that'll be a guaranteed top 3 pick for CBJ in 2013 then. I'd rather either go solely for Nash or solely for the 1st overall, not both. We don't have the ability to trade for both. This is one of those rare times where it's not just us unwilling to part with certain assets, we just don't have enough to give that won't utterly cripple our team in every way aside from up front.
