I heard about it this morning about time they get another junior team in Minot. My family lives in Minot and my friend is going to be one of the coaches. I also live in Bismarck and the commissioner of the NAHL was talking about bringing in a team because Owatonna was moving. I also live in Bismarck home of the Bobcats which is an hour and a half drive to Minot.
I used to live an hour away from Minot in Rugby, and we always used to go watch the Muskies play before they folded. At least they still have the Beavers playing there. What my brother was saying was why not play at the All Seasons Arena by the Fair Grounds instead of Maysa? I've been there once so maybe it's been re-modeled, we just thought that All-Seasons would've been the better choice.
the reason why no one wants to play at the All seasons arena is they want so much for concession. Also the park board oked an expansion of the maysa with a state of the art bigger rink and nhl locker rooms. also the All seasons wouldn't give them a place for a big team locker room. It doesnt help that Minot high has a big contract for the ice there. I went to 5 muskies games and they sucked i'm happy the guy bought the Bobcats lol. Ya the Beavers will be around for a long time I only missed 11 games in their first 12 yrs. I'm so happy Minot got a team.
I live here in Minot and am super excited to be able to see jr hockey again, was only 7/8ish when the top guns were in town and 11/12ish when the muskies were in town for that year.
As far as where they are playing Maysa is a beautiful facility to play, only REAL problem is seating, if memory serves me (used to work for park district, rarly in maysa but i have a few days there) they have roughly 3000 seats in non-permanent seating, (probly more then enough for what will show up nightly) a problem that will be addressed by the 3rd sheet im sure. The all seasons arena was not chosen because of finances i bet, they where a major factor (from what i was told and read) the muskies folded over conession sales, the rink needed MAJOR maintence a few years back invloving the piping, i dont think the repairs were ever made, and with the high school mens and womans and the college mens and womans team, its best to play at the newer Maysa

I to grew up in Minot and went to American and Top guns games. Maysa went to the board to build a Third rink they said the soonest they may know is July 1 2011. The reason why All seasons was not even thought of was cause the high school and most of the college teams are playing there to much and have practice everyday. So hopefully the third rink will get built. They are going to put more seating in for the first yr.
The 3rd rink has approval already, they are in the process of raising funds for it, so it is a for sure thing, just waiting for funds, they said hopefully by this time next year they will start construction of the 3rd rink.
edit: and yes i agree the scheduleing for all season arena would be a nightmare for the MSU and MHS athletic directors if we added another team playing/practicing there.

I talked to the MSU mens coach and they will be playing at the Maysa after this coming season for good. So this will be the last season of the Beavers at the All seasons arena I'm happy.
Any Minot folks get to see 15 year old Mason Morelli play for the tauros yet. He played high school for Minot High this past season and is now skating with the Tauros. I know his dad real well and we coached a AAA squirt team together a few years back in which Mason and my daughter were on. Just wondering if he looks out of place on the ice or if he is holding his own.

I saw him play this past Friday kid looks like he could really do something for the Tauros. They just need some solid goalies. I hope in a year or 2 they can really do good. I wish they would have given Darren Medlar a little more time in net but always threw him up against some high ranked teams. I for see them sticking around for a long time.

Thanks. I do know that Mason is going back to play fro Minot High next season.
I think when try outs come he will be on the team. Hes a great player and the Tauros really need him. But then again I didn't think Buster Hebda was going to get traded to us (Bismarck). I'm going to miss going to NAHL games after this season as I'm moving to Fargo (maybe become a Force fan)

We shall see about Mason trying out. I really think he plays for his high school team 1 more year and then maybe making the jump for good his senior year.
