I thought Vokoun would be the cure for my ailing hockey pool team at the start of this season. How wrong I was....

Yeah, I think as far as value is concerned it's probably not far off.

To CGY: LAK 1st rounder, CLB 2nd rounder
To CLB: Miikka Kiprusoff

Kipper + CLB's mobile D would be a pretty strong combo.

I just don't see Feaster moving Kipper. I think Iggy will be moved before Kipper is.

Honestly, that could go both ways. Either he's interested and we've got an "in", or we blew our chance and they don't want to take their chances anymore. It's neither good nor bad.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Yeah, your probably right, Baerschi will single-handedly drag the Flames from their present no play-offs for 3 years, only 1 season with playoff series win(s) since 1997 and turn them into a perennial powerhouse. That's not a lot to ask of a 19 year old with 56 minutes of NHL experience.

Yeah that's true. The Blue Jackets are in quite a different state than last summer. I would hope that Howson had enough sense to not offend him and make it about more than anything but business.

Hockey is a team sport. It's not about having one superstar that carries the team (well unless it's Crosby). If Baertschi is able to make an impact his first year and the young talent already on the team steps it up, that could be the difference maker for the Flames.

If Baertschi is able to become a 60 point guy and guys like Backlund, Horak, Carson, etc.. manage to find their groove and become 40 point guys, it could easily be enough to make the Flames, maybe not favorites, but contenders.

Take a look at the standings this year and look at the teams that have come out of nowhere. How many of them are doing so due to a sudden infusion of superstar youth. None.

And how many of them are doing it with Carson's, Horak's and Backlund's. None.
