We're not overly confident, but we aren't shaking in our boots either.
Impressive indeed. I agree entirely that the Kings are better since Sutter. That being said, I could just as easily manipulate statistics, selecting periods during the season, that would show how the Canucks are superior to the Kings. It's easy to pick and choose stats to make a point.
I can't wait for the puck to drop. I want to see the furious tempo the Canucks brought in game one last year replicated. The hits will be flying and Drew...they are coming for you.
Yeah, Kings fans should be prepared to lose game 1. After that I think the series will be a squeaker, but the Canucks always come out absolutely flying in those first games.
I actually can't remember the last time we lost the first game of any series...

Alright...We're here at the playoffs now, and i understand things get a bit more confrontational... Let's act like the adults we are though. Please, remember to keep yourselves in line and don't act like idiots. Stupidity will be met with threadbans, forum bans and infractions, so PLEASE consider this your warning.
I'm surprised how confident LA fans are. Not implying in anyway that it's a bad thing, just shocked that fans of an 8th place team are so confident that their team is going to win.
Yes, because its not as if they were just that close to winning the division.

Enjoy the playoffs!
Just wondering if this was specific for this thread, because I haven't seen anything that crossed any lines. It seems some posts have been deleted as well.
Does anyone here have a lot of knowledge on how Devorski/O'Rourke call games?
In for a penalty filled game? Refs letting them play?
First of all, these following observations are solely based on the regular season Canuck games that DOR and PD were involved with. I tracked referees and the PIM's that they called for the entire season for the Canucks, so that's where these numbers come from.
DOR was teeeerible last year during the playoffs, as I clearly remember him being involved with many of the Canuck penalty calls. However, in the games that DOR was involved with in the regular season this year, the Canucks are 6-0-1. Coincidence or not, its an interesting trend that I've been tracking for all the refs. In the games that he's been involved with, there have been ~16 penalties called, which is quite high relatively speaking in comparison to the rest of the referees. In fact, this average is the highest of all the referees that were involved with any other Canuck game throughout the season. The PIM's are fairly even for both teams, as each team has averaged about 25 minutes of PIM's. These numbers are inflated due to the fact that he was involved with the VAN/BOS game early in January. He can be classified as whistle-happy, and tends to take control of the game right from the beginning; definitely not a referee that "lets them play".
PD is an experienced referee, one of the most experienced in the league, IIRC. Canucks are 4-1 in the games he's been involved with, but the average number of penalties in the game is average at around 8/game. This number is the sum total for both teams, with around 4/team/game. PIM's average 8.2/game for both teams, so he calls it relatively fair.
If there was one referee to watch out for, it would be DOR. He tends to take control of games, and PD might be the same as well. This WOULD play to the advantage of the Canucks, as we rely more on the referees calling penalties and getting teams on the powerplay. Let's hope we can kill off a damn penalty this time around.

Good to know we have the same opinions. I hate O'Rourke.

This. I know it's already been argued that it's a small sample of the stretch run, but significant things have changed for our team and the numbers are looking pretty effing good for us once the changes were set in effect. Yes, the Canucks are a strong team, and yes, this series will be a hard fought one regardless of who wins it, but it's feeling like we have a lot to be confident about going it to this.
Yes, because its not as if they were just that close to winning the division.
Really?
No one won that division - everyone lost it. i could just as easily say Dallas was that close to winning the division and they finished 10th. At one point it looked like they were going to finish 1st in the Pacific, but again, they lost it just like the Kings and Sharks.
Just using the arrogance that Doughty used earlier which was supposed to do anything to the Canucks right?
Guess that cheesy line didn't work after all and I'm glad you got a chuckle out of it because that was the point. That's probably what the Canucks are doing..chuckling along with you =)
Arrogance? He said what any competitor feels before playing any sport. Transparency is good, too many NHLers are boring and lame in interviews. He didn't trash talk much, he said he's expecting to win. Oh the horror!

While I understand that the Kings are hot, people seem to be forgetting that the Canucks are too. They've won 8 of their last 9 and have looked much improved coming into the playoffs than their midseason "slump" around Jan/Feb.
At most I think you can say you've got two teams that are both peaking at the right time.
Less than 24hrs. I can't wait for some playoff hockey! What's going on with Daniel?
No idea. He's been skating but not with the regular team. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the lineup tomorrow but equally unsurprised to see him miss the first 1 or 2. Looks like they are playing it extra-cautious (as they should, they've been like .800 without him).
