Yakupov isnt coming here. Hes a first line player and we have our first line set for many years,
I want and see PK Subban and an exchange of picks with Montreal, God willing.

Yakupov is left handed. Why not try him at left?

Russians don't work that way. Every Russian from Ovechkin to Kovalchuk to Bure to Mogilny play on their off wing.

Hemsky was pretty much a second line winner after the emergence of Hall-Nuge-Ebs this season. I would say keep that top line together and put Hemsky with Gagner and Yakupov. Or move Gagner and put Paajarvi at centre on that line. Yakupov can play LW too. He's a dynamic player that plays all over the ice. he's not just an up and down guy. Yakupov may just be the perfect compliment to Hemsky's passing, and Gagner would be good backup for the two puck movers.

Try Eberle at centre, he is such a smart player which I think would make the transition easier, and trade Gagner/Paajarvi for Clowe/Malone

Hall-RNH-Yakupov
Clowe/Malone-Eberle-Hemsky

Thats pure firepower.

Whatever we do with him, we CANNOT trade Hemmer this offseason. It's totally unclassy and we will lose respect from all UFA's.

Theres nothing wrong with letting Yakupov (assuming he is the guy we pick) battle with Hemsky and the rest of our RWers for a spot on the team. Thats step 1B after step 1A which is getting a Russian prospect under on an ELC to attend a pro camp...NSA.

Until then....we wait.

Agreed, not to mention its idiotic value wise. If Hemsky even comes half way back to form, he will increase his trade value tremendously.
We may just have to move someone to left wing or run 3 scoring lines if we can sign a decent UFA. I'm still in favour of going after David Jones even if we do draft Yak.

Do u think Yakupov can switch from RW to LW? It wouldn't hurt to try, plus I don't think it can make that much of a difference.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Yakupov-Gagner-Hemsky

That's a sick top 6 group with sick skill.

Hemsky playing on a line with Yakupov/Gagne or RNH/Eberle=a much better Hemsky than this year. He'll look better and increase his value. Maybe he'll even want to stay for a discount. Probably not, but sometimes taking a million less and knowing you'll still have value at the end of your contract is better than taking above market value and chancing that you'll fail in a new environment.

Second line with scoring talent? Nail-Gags-Hemmer? That seems like a win-win combo.
awesome for Gagner as well since he would not have to face the top opposition.

If the Oilers draft Yakupov, move Hemsky or Eberle to LW. I think Either could make the switch. It is not that uncommon as some think.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Hemsky-Gagner-Yakupov

or any combo of said wingers depending on chemistry (although Ebs and RNH seem to have some good mojo going on together). Looks plenty good to me.

[QUOTE=tiger_80;47706509]I would not be surprised if Tambellini sends the pick along with Paajarvi and a defence prospect to Nashville for Shea Weber.

i think Shea Weber is highley overated

id wrather go after Tyler Myers if they were to get a d-man and he already signed under a decent contract too

I thought Hemsky played some LW when Samsanov was here. Also one poster brought up him playing with Jagr on the left, the Czech team also tried him at center. Hemsky is a good enough player, one of him Yakupov or Eberle can make the transition to the left. Hemsky is a first line talent, assuming we draft Yakupov it's amazing that we have 5 guys who fill that quota. Lets rejoice.

A) Kill him and bury him in the concrete foundation for the new arena.

or

B) Play him with the rest of the roster and watch him contribute to one of the best offensive teams in the league for years to come.

I choose B personally.

Didn't Hemmer play LW on a line with Jagr a few years ago?

Edit: Ah, it was mentioned already. NM!

Does Eberle not already play the LW on the pp set up? He's usually on that side of the ice no?

I'd be rolling with Eberle-RNH-Yakupov. Gagner-Hall-Hemsky.

Yes, I would begin transitioning Hall to C. Less vulnerable to injuries and C is a more critical position when it comes to Ws. He's got the skill to make the switch.

Moving two stars to a different position? Um... no I think that's the kinda crazy stuff we only expect out of Mike Milbury.

Yakupov is probably more physically ready for the NHL than Hall was. He's over 190 pounds and he hasn't even been drafted yet. If he wants to play a physical game you can be sure he'll pump unto 205 -210 over the next few years. He'll be the slipperiest tank out there.

The big question is... with all of those cooks in the kitchen.... what will that do to each player's ego? Maybe it's just been so long since Edmonton has had a good sniper, let alone 3-4 that I forgot how to enjoy having a team full of stars.... jeez it's been long.

So move Hemsky out after all the young stars petitioned to have him resigned, What kind of loyalty does that show them when their rfa ufa come up. Treat players like disposable lighters the players will treat the organization the same.
