So he will likely be a scratch to start, then.

Probably, which isn't surprising. But Tortorella could also easily change his mind after practice and decide he likes what he saw and wants to find a spot to fit Kreider in

No way he's going to play in game 1. But I suspect it won't take very long for him to get a shot. By game 3-4, we'll have our first glimpse.

Not really surprising. Start as a scratch, soak it in and prove yourself. If there is an injury or the team needs a spark you get a shot.

Exactly how Torts should approach it. Kreider is a great kid but this is a true team that is better than the sum of its parts, no need to risk chemistry and it shows confidence in our roster. Still so awesome to finally see him on the ice in NYR gear.

If we lose game 1 and struggle for Offense, can see him getting some 3rd line minutes in Game 2.

Yes. Which means it would make no sense at all to not play him. (not necessarily game 1, but you get the point)

If we win the first three games I can see him getting a call to play for game 4.

I find it ironic that I've always been reminded of Amonte when I watch Kreider and he has a high probability of making his debut in the same manner.

Be patient with a kid like Kreider, he's come a long way in a generally short amount of time and don't understate the process of him still growing physically, and as a player.

That's what makes him very unique. You don't see many guys his size move the way he does. If he progresses to his potential, he's going to be a very tough player to contain.

Which is why initially some of us thought of Rick Nash... not many players that size with that kind of speed. (Then again there was Evgeny Artyukhin)

Recent knock i've had on Kreider is that his shot isn't dynamic enough to beat good NHL goaltenders clean, its more like Dubinsky than it is like Gaborik or Nash.
