Just want to say C'MON! Do you have any idea how over-hyped the draft is! You have nothing to worry about!
The #1 pick is not some saint that will lead you to a decade of championship glory, just as much as picks 2 through 100 aren't a bunch of trash.
In the year you drafted Nash 1st, Carolina drafted Cam Ward 25th, and in his rookie year he backstopped them to a Stanley Cup and won the Conn Smythe.
It's not really about the draft pick. It's really more about the whole "one more thing gone wrong" element. That's just kind of how the season's gone.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
Actually after the draft lottery I don't feel anymore like we can pretend for the Worst NHL Franchise title. I'm upset, disappointed, but what a joke and disgrace of a franchise the Edmonton has become... http://fans.oilers.nhl.com/community...te-disgrace-i/
They're running this thread for years now, and its getting worse. Even if the Oilers start winning one day those 3 1st overall picks always gonna remind everyone of the unprecedented sucking.
Columbus native.... this is really over isn't it? Needed Nail. Don't see how they ever climb out of this hole.
The Nash trade still has the potential to swing a good return to Columbus to "jump-start" a rebuilding effort if used properly. Having the first overall would have helped immensely, but at least we still have that ace to play.

Winni folk just don't get it.

Well here I am switching channels between playoff series that once again does not include the CBJ, this one day after losing the lottery once again, this time the #1 pick. Lowest point...? Who's to say...! We still have a clueless owner who can't find his butt with both hands, but does know how to shell out millions of dollars to keep his whipping boy Mike Priest in his employ who in turn can't find any fault at all with the "author of failure" Scott Howson, who is responsible for this joke of a hockey team we are all crazy about for some reason! So lowest point? I'm sure with Scott at the helm, we can go lower, like trading the only decent player we've ever had.....
I guess the lowest point will be when the team leaves town....

You know what could be even worse?
Last year, Dallas needed a win against a non-playoff team to make the playoffs. They not only lost, they were totally outplayed. This year, in the span of four days, they went from being in control not only of a playoff spot but of the Pacific Division to being mathematically eliminated from both.
And to add to it, their big move last year was picking up Alex Goligoski (who had 30 points this year). They gave up Matt Niskanen (who had 24) and James Neal, who had 40 goals and 81 points. Their prospect pool has also been depleted, with their best hopes for the future being either long-term projects (like Jamie Oleksiak) or boom-or-bust types (like Jack Campbell).

At least their fans had hope through the season, we were eliminated from the playoffs by Halloween. So in a span of three weeks we went from a team that had the high hopes for a playoff run to being a bottom feeder once again, and this with a $62 million dollar payroll. Dallas has a history of playoff success including a Cup. We have a history of nothing but failure, not even one playoff win in our history. The guy in charge of half of this failure is still in charge. Sorry I feel no remorse for Dallas or their fans.
