For me, this pairing is clearly the weak link in the Flyers lineup, how Lavi manages this pairing will go a long way to determining how the series goes. The pens are going to try and get either Malkin or Crosby out against them whenever possible, if they get that matchup we're hooped. Lavi needs to win the matchup game imho.

Who would of thought a third pair would be the weakest part of a lineup?
Bourdon and Lilja have actually been pretty solid lately, and I'm confident that they will be fine. The Flyers need to focus on using their five man unit to shut down Crosby and Malkin anyway.

On a lot of teams there 4th line is weaker than there 3rd d pairing. Not the case with the Flyers.

Shutting down Crosby and Malkin is a five man job. You can't just put it on the d pair, it has to be on the forwards as well. They have to get back defensively and pick up the trailers that these guys will open up the ice for.

With a healthy lineup, Pronger and Meszaros would replace Bourdon and Lilja. There really wouldn't be a "weak" point.

That's my point though. The third pair is your 5-6 guys, of course they would be exploited by first liners. They need to rely on their forwards helping them out as much as their own skill.

I'm sure if things go bad today, Kubina will come in and maybe Timonen-Carle split up to spread out the D
Kubina-Carle was a ****show last time. I guess I'd be fine with Kubina-Timonen though.
That being said, Kubina has really struggled since coming here. Waste of a trade. Won the Grossmann one but lost the Kubina one (unless he goes super beast mode after being a healthy scratch)

Kubina played well when he first came over, but he got hurt. Let's wait until the end of the season, when we find out what his injuries are, before we bury him. Kubina could still be a huge factor for us this year.
I think this is stating the obvious. This is where Bryz will have to step it up. I am a little leery of starting Bourdon over Kubina regardless of who has been playing better (I think Kubina's experience outweighs Broudon's marginally better play). Guess we'll find out what happens here.
WTF LAPPY JUST SAID PITT IN 4 (of Flyers in six)?!?!?!?!?!?!
Bourdon started pretty strong, but then became a bit of a turnover machine before being sent back to the AHL. I'm still seeing too much of that since he's come back up including last night. Lilja has picked things up, Kubina looked very sharp when he first came over, but I think the injury is the problem now.
