Expected and equally disappointing.

Took the words out of my mouth.

This pretty much puts the bow on Derek Roy being gone.

Whether or not they were good or bad moves these are the most recent moves:
(and not signing a UFA is a move!)

IN:
Boyes
Regehr
Ehrhoff
Leino
Hodgson
Sulzer
Kotalik
2nd round pick
1st round pick
2012 & 2013 7th round picks

OUT:
2nd round pick
4th round pick
Connolly
Gragnani
Kassian
Gaustad
Butler
Montador
Niedermayer

I probably forgot a move or two

I don't have any doubt at all, that Regier will bring in 2-3 new faces before October. AND at least 2 faces on the current roster won't be here in October. Not including Hecht and Boyes who won't be re-signed, that's at least 4 player movements.

I would be 100% fine with that. Doubt and complain all you want, but I'll judge Regier on opening night. So far, under Pegula, Regier has been decent. Ruff, well I wish he would get replaced, but ya can't get every wish.

What did you expect from an owner that proclaimed "Lindy ain't goin' nowhere"?

The front office is going to cling to the injury excuse. I'll refrain from judging next season until the draft/trade deadline pass.

That's the disconnect.
I think this is exactly it.

I have a feeling when Pegula said there is a three year plan to win the cup, part of that is that Lindy and Darcy have three years to make that happen.

I said it before the season was over and I'll say it now.

The Sabres options were either:

A) Find a new coach and a make small amount of roster changes
B) Make significant changes to the personnel in the locker room

They've chosen the B. Buffalo needs to move out at minimum Roy, if not Vanek as well. You can't have 11 million in cap space being used at half effectiveness because of an ongoing Feud with the head coach, regardless of fault.

The front office all needs to get on the same page in terms of the style of play the team is going to play. I feel like the inconsistency the past two years is the GM building for one style of play and the coach dictating another. For a "duo" that has been together so long, this shouldn't be an issue.

Pick a direction. Get everyone on board. Change the roster as needed. If the Coach or GM isn't going with it or being selfish, they need to go, period.

Disappointing, but whatever.

We'd better see some pretty serious player movement.

On the one side there's rewarding failure; on the other side, there's giving it tenure. Anyone care to venture a guess where we're at in this spectrum?

They've chosen the B.
False dichotomy.

They could have (and arguably should have) done both.

They'll go with hidden option C) Do absolutely **** all over the summer. Player or FO side.

Anyone else hoping they REALLY **** the bed next year so they've got zero excuses left? I was hoping for that this year after that horrible slump put us at the bottom of the conference. This second half surge crap got old after one year. Watch them do it again next year and management sail the ship in the same direction after that.

/broken record.

You mean renewing seasons tickets year after year?

Nope.

I'm hoping for Regier to have another very good offseason, parts of the "Rochester" core to be traded and new faces brought in - Parise, hopefully.

Then, I'm hoping for a stanley cup win.

Pegula and Black have a full season under their belts. Relax, see what the next offseason brings and know that Lindy will likely be coaching for his job next season.

If he can't bring it then, he'll be out. If he isn't, I'll gladly eat my words then.
