They need to hold a press conference in which he physically signs a check and hands it over to Gary Bettman. Gary can then hand Greg some keys to the building. Then both raise their right hands and swear that the team is here to stay for no fewer than the next ten calendar years.
I just got my marriage license today, and that whole raising the right hand thing really sells it. Haha

Do it at a game. Roll out the red carpet. Do a ceremonial puck drop, with Bettman handing the keys to Greg, then both dropping the puck.
I would think that if they actually announced a sale completion at a game, you'd need to have the defibrillators on hand. Lots of heart attacks in the building.
The NHL won't announce anything at a game. It would put the opposition at a great disadvantage and the NHL can't do that. It's not like the return of Billy Martin.
There are no details that have been made public about any kind of deal between GB and GJ. So until anything is made public all we can do is speculate what terms GJ would possibly accept that would make a deal worthwhile for him and his supposed investor group? I maintain that based on the prior team losses the only terms GJ could ever accept would be something well south of 100MM. No way the NHL will sell this team for that when QC is able and willing to pay perhaps twice that. Even if GJ was dumb enough to pay as much as 140MM, such a premium would instantaneously render his purchase a loser. Why? because he would immediately be pressured to raise the salary cap, he is obligated to keep 2012-13 ticket prices intact, thus his losses could likely exceed this years projected 35-40MM. Bottom line: His real basis, assuming no lockout, would be 175MM after exiting next season. That number next to what was paid for Dallas and TB is so high it would be laughable. Once again, GB has yet to divulge his actual selling price because to do so would automatically shoot down any purchase. If everyone seems to be so sure about a deal already done with the league, why has GB not said that the NHL had to drop their price to get it done?
Apparently he will be in attendance tonight though. Not sure what to make of that.
It tells us nothing we don't already know.
We know he's in the running to purchase the team.
It's not surprising that he might want to actually take in a game while he's here.
Plus, hockey is fun to watch, even if you're not in the market for a team.
So no super-secret info to be had based upon his attendance.

Him showing up tonight would tell me a lot:
- He actually exists
- He's aware that the Coyotes are a hockey team playing in Glendale
That'd be more factual information than we've had over the past 12 months.

He was there tonight. A couple friends stopped him in the concourse and talked to him for a few minutes. He didn't provide any info other that they're working on the detail and don't give up.

Here a link to a short blog post about the conversation with Jamison.
Lieberman seeks support for stand vs. Coyotes deal
Quote:
No deal points have been made public yet, but Lieberman offered his take.
“I need all of your help at a council meeting in the very near future,” Lieberman told tea party members on Wednesday. “The city is close to making a deal with Jamison to buy the Coyotes.
“Jamison wants a large fortune from the city and unbelievably four or more of the council members are willing to give him that money because they are in a mad protection of the arena and Westgate.”
The hockey team is the anchor tenant for the city-owned Jobing.com Arena. bringing in fans for about 40 games each season.
Lieberman said the city would pay “hundreds of millions” over a 21-year period but call it a “management fee.”
I would take him more serious if he was calling on all of Glendale residents, not just a specific group of people.
