That game exemplifies why he won't be traded. Jiminy Christmas, he was everywhere. If Luongo hadn't been on his game early, he could've had a multi-goal game, too.

Particularly if the Kings move on and defeat Vancouver. If they show any sign of playoff success, they will build on what they have and not dismantle.

The only way Brown moves is if the Kings have an epic meltdown and he is a big contributor to that or he really didnt like how things went down with Carter/Richards and demands out. With the latter, it would take a kings ransom to get him, no pun intended.

Its funny, Vancouver was my favorite team in the west until (1) they repeatedly discussed Miller being overrated just to quell their own insecurity about a taalented but inconsistent Luongo and (2) they rehashed Hodgson/ Kassian and Hodgson as Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. hide over and over and over and over and over.

I like the Kings, but have a hard time cheering for Mike Richards. I like the Blues, primarily because of the development of Backes and Oshei and Pieterangelo, but have hard time cheering for Hitch.

This feels like a stronger than usual, more balanced playoff class. There's probably 11 teams I could see winning the cup this year:

Pittsburgh: the talent up front speaks for itself.
Philadelphia: If Bryzgalov can outplay Fleury, thsi team can go all the way.
NYR: Just a solid, well-rounded team with good leadership, chemistry and goaltending. No real holes.
Boston: Biggest baddest team in the playoffs doesn't have anything missing from last year's cup roster.
Washington: Underachievers most of this year, but insanely talented, and they have Backstrom back. The talent is there if it all goes the same direction.
Vancouver: President's Trophy two years in a row.
St. Louis: their team defense is undoubtedly the best in the league.
Nashville: Weber and Rinne finally have enough scoring support.
Detroit: Who ever writes these guys off?
Chicago: The goaltending has to be better, but up front they can make up for it.
Los Angeles: Jonathan Quick just might be good enough to pull a 2003 Giguere.

Who probably can't win: Florida (just not enough talent), New Jersey, Ottawa, San Jose (all time chokers I have no faith in), Phoenix (just not enough talent).

Shea Weber NOT suspended for punching Zetterberg's head into the glass.

Whoa. Welcome to the playoffs. This is bad news for everybody, because I'd hate to see the cup won by the team with the fewest concussions.

If Holmstrom hadn't gotten up I almost guarantee Weber would be suspended. But yeah, way to let that go shanny. good call, condoning grabbing a dude's head and smashing it into the glass. The NHL is so bush league sometimes

Zetterberg, but yeah, agreed. It's an absolute joke that he wasn't suspended. Deadspin's headline is "Shea Weber earns $2,500 fine, but no suspension for playing Whack-A-Mole with Henrik Zetterberg's head last night" and you can't argue that. I got a bet on the Wings in the series so I'm ever more infuriated but regardless, we know the wheel of justice came up on "fine, but no suspension" this time.

That's what I thought of as well.

It's an absolute joke that Weber wasn't suspended. That type of **** doesn't belong in the game. I love Weber but that was classless.

Bitz has a hearing for his boarding major on Kyle Clifford. Clifford wasn't injured either and that was actually a hockey play. Bitz will probably be suspended because he's a 4th line player and means very little so Shanaban will make an example of him.

How a guy trying to slam a guys face into the glass isn't suspension worthy baffles me. Kaleta gets suspended for head butting but Weber gets a slap on the wrist.

Cap Geek tweeted this earlier.

#NHL Shea Weber fined $2,500 from his $7.5m salary applying the same ratio to someone making $50,000, that's $16.

Could also insert Game of Thrones reference. Witnessing royal incest is a bit more interesting.

Somewhat related to the Weber-Zetterberg discussion:

While everyone was focusing on Weber and Z in the corner, supposedly Bertuzzi took a pretty heavy swing at our old friend Gaustad that didn't land. I don't think anyone would be surprised to be Bertuzzi throw another cheapshot, and him and Goose have exchanged words/punches before in limited meetings, so it certainly seems plausible.

With all that said, I haven't seen any footage of it. Does anyone know if there's any particular replay that shows the incident, or did anyone happen to see it live? Did this actually happen, is it getting blown out of proportions, or was it totally fabricated?

EDIT: Watching the full replay, Gaustad and Datsyuk get into a shoving match following the final face-off. Bertuzzi is in the far corner when the whistle blows, sees Gaustad and Datsyuk going at it, and immediately starts heading in Goose's direction. Can't see anything else

Ahhh so Myers gets 3 games on a marginal elbow, Weber gets nothing for viciously slamming Zetterberg's head into plexiglass...this league is a G-D joke.Shanahan is gutless, he didn't have the testicular fortitude to suspend a star player, if Kaleta did this he would have gotten 10-20 games.

Let's GO CAPS.

I want Boston to get totally dominated physically and on the scoreboard.

I wanna see Ovi take Marchand OUT.

While I dislike washington, Boston hate wins out. Agreed. I'd love to see them get humiliated in the first round.

Boston has been the better team, no doubt, but Washington doesn't look nearly as overmatched as I thought they'd be...

Ottawa has been taking it in the pooper from the Rangers but they've certainly had their chances. Too bad Lundqvist is unrattleable. I'll be shocked if that series goes more than 5 (though pleased as I hate both and would love them to wear each other out)
