At best Franson is worth a 3rd, I don't think you would get any takers with Franson part of the deal. You would have to sweeten the pot to move up in the draft, especially with it being a quality draft.

i think it depends on whats on the board at the time.

i wouldnt be surprised to see franson moved. the truth is with the amount of defenseman we have locked up it will be difficult to convince him to resign and even if we did to find a spot for him to play.

id have to think that if downie and gausted and some others could get a 1st straight up then franson + the 35th could get close to the 20th overall give or take.

for a pick in the 25-30 range its not worth it for the leafs imo. if we could get in the late teens and then try to move up again to see if we can get faksa or gaunce i think it would be a good draft for the leafs.

I think Cody Franson is worth so much more to the Leafs than this. This kid played real solid for stretches. He is not a part of the problem. I understand other teams not putting much value there, and that's exactly why he should not be traded. Don't sell low.

There is no pressing need to move up in the draft. 20-25th overall will get you a prospect that might not help for three years, and we need results sooner than that. Franson is great for the team's overall depth, and may soon be better than some late 1st rounders this year will ever be anyway.

Value wise you could prob go around 25, but everything has to add up for this type of deal to happen.

The team would need to actually want Franson, have room for Franson, and not have a target player at that point.

Just because a deal makes sense value wise doesn't mean there will definitely be an opportunity to make said trade.
