Milan Hejduk

He said in recent interview (http://hokej.idnes.cz/hokejovy-utocn...2434_hokej_lge) that he's not expecting Colorado to offer him new contract. He also said that he's not necessarily retiring after the season. Depends on the options he will have. Any ideas who could take a chance on him?

Eh. The Avs have enough loyalty that they would offer him a contract if he wants to return. But the way he looked at the end of the season, something is off. Whether it's mental or physical, we're not sure.

I have no idea how he looked, so can't comment on that.

That article is bogus, just like last years about Vokon and the Avs. DP never published a story that said Hejduk is going to retire. They've said he's contemplating retirement, he himself said that he'll weigh all his options and decide what's best for his family and that he needs to start getting ready for next season if he wants to play. He said that if this is his last season he'll most likely coach his kids in the future.

Hejduk also wouldn't say things like those he allegedly said to this reporter. Another red flag is the ridiculous claim is that he thinks Sacco could get a five year extension, apart from it being a comment that's out of touch with reality Duke would never comment on personel decisions made by Colorado.

I don't expect him to play another NHL game.

With how he looked for most of the season, I would not be surprised if he decides to retire. But, if he wants to come back and play one more season, the Avs need to give him a contract.

Could be LA's consolation prize once they get turned down but other UFA's.

If Hejduk wants to play another year in the NHL the Avalanche will offer him a contract.

However, with the way he played the second half of the season I would not be suprised if he retired.

The Duke is sadly not a consolation price for anything anymore.
I really doubt that he would sign anywhere else than Colorado anyways.

If Milan did not fall off a cliff completely this year we would see the Avs in the playoffs.

He is one of my favorite Avs ever and it would be really sad if he retires but if his decline was because of age and not a hidden injury he is done in the NHL.

Well, i'm not gonna say, that Idnes helds much credibility or anything, but do you seriously think, that one of the biggest information sites in the country would just fabricate interview with player? And that claim about five-years extension of Sacco - i don't know, but to me, it seems more like irony. Generally, feeling that i get from that interview, is that Hejduk is displeased with his current situation and position in Colorado.

I'd cry if he played another season NOT for the Avs.

This should be quoted in the OP and the topic let die.

100% accurate assessment of Hejduk, only missing the fact that he'd never play for another team than the Avs in the NHL.

Avs or retirement for Hejduk.

He said if he retires he wants to get involved with the Avs in some other way but no matter what happens, he said him and his family will be staying in Denver.

I guess it's possible that he could play somewhere else for a year and then come back to the Avs and to Denver but it doesn't seem likely.

I am pretty sure I remember in the off season last year he was asked in an interview about if he would consider playing for another team, and he said that if he and management couldn't agree on a contract he wanted to retire as an av

Not true, the Avs need to do what is best for the team long term.

Milan has had a great run but he is done in the NHL.

Dater says he doesn't think the Avs will offer him a contract. They're loyal, but they aren't going to bring back a guy that was playing on the 4th line to finish out the year.

That usually proves that that opposite is true
