Rangers...have enough deoth and his price tag is too high..unless NYR moves someone at the draft, which I doubt they do,then there is no interest in suter.
If for any crazy freason Staal or DelZotto (praying he goes no where ) gets moved then they I think would pursue Suter.
Habs should not be interested. He is a good player, but not a great one. He is not as good whenever Weber is out, do he will not be that great on another team. Someone will pay him stupid money, and then we will criticize the amount throughout his contract...unless Nashville keeps him with Weber.
I would rather have Jason Garrison over Suter.
If I had a signature, this would be it. I'd rather the Habs have Jason Garrison over Suter, too. Luckily, they don't have to worry about that. They have no chance at getting Suter.
To Edmonton for a sweet prospect package?
Everyone wins
Sure...Martin for MPS. Suter for 8 years at 6.5M. Then we can find a buyer for TK to free up more cap space. Pens get a winger for Crosby, the top Dman in the market, and if cap goes up at all we can keep Niskanen, then we are all set. Oilers can draft a Dman at the draft and have a nice D for next season with Martin, Whitney, that drafted Dman (Murray?).
Blues fans haven't allowed themselves to really think about Suter being an option because it's like self-protection from being too optimistic. Suter really would be the final piece. He's the most coveted guy at the only spot that needs a serious upgrade: top-pair LD. They obviously have tons of cap room and obviously Suter would have many suitors. "Wanna be Alex Pietrangelo's partner on a team where you'd be the final piece on a young, perennial Cup contender?" is the pitch. MacInnis is a big part of the front office and probably knows him from playing all those years with Uncle Gary in Calgary.
My guess is he re-signs with Nashville, unless they lose in round 1.
I would be careful about the "tons of cap room" talk.
First, the cap is going down possibly as low as mid 50's depending upon the new CBA.
Second, your team has tons of young guys who are going to be expecting to get paid on their next contracts (Oshie, Stewart, the goaltenders, Pietrangelo, Berglund). You sign Suter for $7m+ and you may have to pull a Hawks move and dump players when they reach their prime years.
Anyone have doubts how he will play with out Weber. Makes things little easier playing with a all-star as your D partner.
How is he going to look with a lesser guy with him?
I see it as the other way around. How will Weber look without Suter (who is also an all-star caliber d-man)? Suter is as steady as they come and cab blend with anyone. Let's see Weber play at his current level with a Josi or someone like that.

Of course, one could also ask how Weber will look without Suter as well.
Personally, I think they'll both be fine.
I like Suter, but we have seen him play when Weber was injured and his productivity decreased enough to make me think that Suter is the one who benefits more from that pairing than Weber is. It reminds me of how Markv made Komisarek look amazing until Komi was no longer with Markov. No, I am not comparing the players named, just the situations. Yes, Suter is way better than Komisarek.
In any case, I would NOT pay Suter 7+ million. Way too much for what he brings to the table, especially without Weber as his partner.

I think you're giving WAY too much credit to Weber. His own play has gone down the chute when Suter was out of the line-up.
If Pronger retires he still counts against the cap with the 35+ rule, or is retiring on LTIR an exploit? that would be pretty sneaky.
The way the cap is now I can see a team trading for Pronger with the intention his cap hit will help them get over the cap min. lol
Worst case scenario there probably would be a team willing to take the cap hit for like a 4th rounder from Philly(maybe a 3rd at worst) since they don't plan to go anywhere near the cap max in the next few years
Agreed 100%. Suter's list of preferred teams will probably be pretty short as well - it's all up to him. To me, Suter just screams Detroit. It makes too much sense on every level that I can think of.
Agreed. However does he really want to play for an eastern based western conf team? Detroit and Chicago log a ton of miles. Then there's his family to think of (I assume he likely has a wife or gf).
But yeah if he told Shero that he'd take 6.0/6.5, Martin would be gone tomorrow.

The thing is, Philly doesn't need to have Pronger 'retire'. He'll say he's injured, and Philly will keep him on LTIR for the year. The ONLY advantage for Philly to trade him if he doesn't think he can come back, is for Philly to save the 5m+ they'd have to pay him, and for another team to use him as cap space while not having to pay him should he retire.
Suter will likely get a contract in the $100 million range, just like Parise. It will be interesting to see how many teams step up to the plate and give Suter his $10 million signing bonus along with his $10.75 million base salary for next year.

I don't know how reliable he is, but Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province said there are claims that "Ryan Suter is set to leave, and many people believe he will. Those around his situation claim he has a list of teams he wants to play for and Nashville isn’t on it."
So, my question is, what team do you think are on his list?
Not being biased, but I believe theres a high possibility that the Devils could be on it because of his strong friendship with Parise and the Devils recent success in the playoffs (Suter wants to win). If Nashville doesn't believe they can sign him, they will trade his rights, and NSH and NJD have a history of trading, most recently the Arnott/Halischuk deal.
