2012 MotoGP thread

MotoGP season starting tonight in Losail, Qatar with a spectacular night race. Jorge Lorenzo starting on pole for the race, Casey Stoner and big suprise Cal Crutchlow on the front row, too.

Anyone else planning to watch the race? (Starts at 7 PM GMT)

Thanks for making this thread! Crutchlow rode great tonight, finished ahead of Dovi! I'm pulling for Spies and Marquez this year, you?

Random, but any thoughts on the CRTs?

Poor old Casey had that race in the bag if his hand hadn't of started playing up on him. he said the bike was fine, it was just him that broke down. Hopefully they get that fixed for him and he can ride the bike like it should be ridden.

I need SPEED vision back again....I'm lost without it.

That being said...I don't think I'll bet against Rossi until he retires, but admittedly I haven't been keeping up with the sport as much as I used to.

I like both drivers of the Repsol Honda team, Stoner and Dani. In Moto2, rooting for fellow Finn Mika Kallio, although his career has been on a downhill for a while.

And the CRT's...it's kinda like the new teams in F1, driving their own race behind the bigger teams.

Huge news today in Le Mans' pre-event press conference; Casey Stoner will retire after this season.

Major loss for MotoGP, one of the biggest stars of the sport retiring so early...

I'm sad to see Casey leave, but excited to see where his career takes him. I can't help but feel like his new son played a role in his retirement, I'd personally expect/love to see him in Indy Car or Australian V8 Supercars within 2 years.
