Bigger and tougher the better! We need someone you can't move but can move you.

I doubt it, the draft is about building depth behind the players currently in the organization. If a really good offensive d-man is the top guy on their board they shouldn't pass on him and reach on another position just to fill a need.

Oilers with their 3rd straight #1 overall pick. That's just ****ing nuts no matter what way you want to spin it.

Hell, for comparison the Lightning have had 3 #1 overalls in franchise history, the Oilers have one 3 years in a row.

We have that in Aullie, hopefully he has a great playoffs in Norfolk and wins a spot in camp next year. Reinhart is big and LH like Aullie, Brewer and Hedman. We need someone of a different mold. I hope Minnesota takes him at 7 so our decision is easier.

TSN's Craig Button has us pick Morgan Rielly with our #10 pick.

Columbus failed at failing for Nail.

Confirmed Lightning picks so far are:

1st round: 10
2nd round: 37, 40
3rd round: 71
4th round: 101
5th round: 131
6th round: 161

The earlier Detroit and Philly are defeated, the better their (read: our) picks become.

Yes, but because Detroit is in the playoffs, the exact spot has yet to be determined.

When do we have to make a decision on Floridas 2nd? I think we should wait till next year anyway with a deeper draft and hope they miss the playoffs.

Pretty sure that's not our decision. Florida gets to decide on when that pick is used.

The draft pick order for playoff teams is

#30 - Stanley cup winner
#29 - SCF loser
#28-27 - ECF & WCF losers
#26-15 - Remaining division winners followed by the rest according to regular season records

Detroit didn't win their division so this is good for us. In the best outcome if Detroit lost in the first round and the rest of the divisional winners won their matches, the the lowest the Detroit pick could be is #20.

#22 - Pens (103) or Flyers (108)
#21 - Devils (102)
#20 - Redwings (102)
#19 - Blackhawks (101)
#18 - Sharks (96)
#17 - Kings (95)
#16 - Caps (92)
#15 - Sens (92)

The tie breaker for teams with the same amount of points is who has the better record. Caps are placed higher because they have 1 more win than the Sens. The Devils and the Red Wings have identical records so I think the next tiebreaker is who did better head-to-head where NJ won their only game against Detroit this season.

I really want trouba, i think he is going to turn out to be the best of the bunch. If he played in Canada he would be a top 3 pick IMO. I just hope somehow he falls to us or we trade up a spot or two.

Edit: Found the article:

The Panthers have the right to make this either a 2012 or 2013 pick prior to the beginning of the 2nd-round of this year's draft.

I want him as well. He's committed to Michigan too. Kid was the best D at the WJC imo. Solid when he had to be, hit whatever moved when it didn't leave him out of position and he actually moved the puck well and demonstrated really good skating ability. All while being only 17.

What the Panthers do with their 2nd will be very telling.

SFY is stockpiling 2nd rounders, and if Florida gives theirs up it plays into the Yzerplan.

If they don't, then they'll be saying that they think the Panthers next season will do better, which I don't think is at all a reasonable assessment.

And I'd be surprised if Florida doesn't concede this year's pick, even if they bow out in the first round.

Tallon and Co. may not want to admit this publicly, but surely they know they're going to have a hell of a time winning that division again. And, hell, they barely scraped by with a division title this year. They can't be too sure next year's 2nd rounder won't be between 31st and 40th overall.

Would be for Rielly if the draft went like Craig Button said, his upside is huge. Wanted Fowler is 2010 instead of Connolly still do, but this would make things better..........But I really want Trouba to somehow fall to us.

If we had known we would to wait until 2013+ to get a useful player we could have picked a D man at that spot

Why is the defense going to be a problem perpetually?

Fowler to the Ducks was too perfect.
