I love the Czech and Polish beers. Every single one that I have tried from the lcbo has been good. Nothing compares.
An American beer that I would recommend based on the comments above is Rolling Rock.
Agreed. Zywiec and Bracki are very reliable (and easily available) Polish beers.
Also: Rolling Rock is OK. I used to go to Pittsburgh every year, and it's decent. I'm not a huge fan of the aftertaste, I have to admit. Personal tastes, I suppose.
It's better than almost anything else you can get in a bar in Pittsburgh, though.
Oh, yeah. For the record it looks like I'm having beans tonight because I spent too much time arguing about beer and don't have time left to cook. Whoops.
I like this thread - I've always toyed with the idea of adding a pic of my pre-game meal to the GDT for Bingo games. I thought it would be a nice touch. Anyway, tonight I put rice, asparagus, mushrooms, peppers and onions into the steamer with a nice serving of marinated chicken on top. Should be ready in 20.
I know one of the guys involved in Broadhead, it's PHENOMENAL beer. I can't recommend it enough.
I've actually yet to have it. Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow and pick some up.

That being said, there is "micro swill" just as much as there is "macro swill". I have had some TERRIBLE microbrew in my 31 years on this planet, trust me on that one. It's not an argument of micro vs macro, but good beer vs bad beer. For example, Creemore is technically "macro" as it's owned by Molson/Coors and has a large distribution, but it's flippin' DELICIOUS.
Creemore is a micro that was bought by a macro. It's good but I don't like to support the evil foreign breweries so I'm not going to buy it.
There are some micros that are as bad as the macros but you're at least supporting a local business and your money stays in Canada.

Obviously there's a ton of garbage "macro brew", but there's some very nice ones as well.
The only ones that are very nice are ones they bought up. Macros up with crap like M or Coors Light Iced T

Well, I think the big difference between you and I is that while we both like good beer, I don't exclude brews based on who owns them. I agree that all the good macro beer is brands they've bought up, but I see that as a GOOD thing (in some cases). For instance, with my Creemore example, they've pretty much left the operations alone, and have interfered minimally with production of the beer, with the only exception being providing larger distribution abilities. The end result is the same Creemore beer that was available as a microbrew, but I can also get it at the Beer Store. Same beer, different owner, more readily available.
I mean, isn't that the point? We don't WANT the beer selection dominated by Molson Canadian, Labatt Blue, Budweiser, and Coors Light (the heavyweights of awful beer). Buying up smaller (BETTER) breweries, not touching their recipes at all, and making them available at a national level is a POSITIVE change for the beer drinking public. It's opening up better beers to people that might not have had access to them before.
Other than that, we seem to be on the same page.

Does anyone on here actually drink beer from a Canadian brewery? Why do so many drink crappy beer from foreign owned breweries?
Beau's is good, haven't had it in a bit - cause nearest for me to get it is the Guelph LCBO in Clairfields.
I'm a bit partial to Lake of Bays when wanting a lager right now, though Mill St has some decent flavours. Their wheat beer isn't bad (though I prefer a proper Weissbier, just a bit hit and miss with the imported ones).
In the past Flying Monkey has had some decent flavours, and Creemore (though owned actually by Molson I believe) still seems to be semi-independent, and has a decent beer.
For Bitter - Wellington County has a decent one.
I also think Brick Brewery hasn't sold out yet right? Waterloo Dark is usually decent, though I haven't gone to that one in a while.
I try to make it a point to grab a good sample of Ontario micros, and then usually mix it in with an imported ale or weissbier when I want something with a different taste. (Since the large majority of NA micros are just let's see how hoppy of an IPA we can make).
