Savannah must have the highest quality of great bands per capita in the world.. Perhaps beaten by Umeå in Sweden but dang.. So good.
Not even close to the best on the east coast. Richmond has way more good bands than Savannah does, especially if entirely average stuff like Black Tusk makes the cut.
A track from the upcoming Six Feet Under album has been released:
Pretty sick song IMO. Their lineup has finally been given a long overdue overhaul. They now have former Brain Drill bassist Jeff Hughell, Rob Arnold from Chaimara, and Kevin Tally on drums.
Of course Barnes's vocals are still subpar compared to his Cannibal Corpse days, but even he sounds noticeably better here than he has in years IMO.

I've seen in this thread you like to put others down just because you dont agree. Fine, I dont agree with you either.. Only good band from Richmond in my opinion is Municipal Waste which is a damn fine band.. other than that there's entirely average stuff like Gwar and Lamb of God from the top of my head. But that's the beauty of it, everyone thinks different.

Gwar and Lamb of God are not what I was referencing. Richmond has an abundance of DIY bands that are absolutely killer. Cough, ******* Sapling, Inter Arma, Parasytic, Occultist, Cannabis Corpse, Volture, Obsessor, Balaclava, etc.
So the previously unreleased track "Piss" that'll be included on the 20th anniversary re-release of Pantera's "Vulgar Display Of Power" is out. It was unveiled last night.
As a huge Pantera fan it pains me to say this but it sounds pretty meh IMO. One riff sounds very similiar to one that later would be found in "Use My Third Arm" and as for the rest, it's average at best.
Frankly, I can see why they were smart and left this off the original recording. It's too much filler and not enough killer.

Didnt know ******* Sapling was from Richmond I like them, that said. My point still stands, I dont agree with you.

Yeah.. uhm... ok boss. Sure with some grind bands I could agree with but not with most music and certainly not Gojira.

Yeah I was anticipating it alot and while I was hoping for a kickass track I wasnt really expecting one and we got pretty much what I was expecting it to be.. it's certainly not bad.. but it's nothing that really stands out either.
Just learned that one of my favorite bands !T.O.O.H! has returned after a 6 years abscense... absolutey awesome news for me even though announced it in september lol.
I am so excited, tomorrow, I get to see Agalloch, the best us-american band ever, live..
been waiting for three years for them to come to Europe
so, what to say about this concert?
I've been to well over 100 concerts, some of them on festivals, some of them in clubs, some of them in front of crowds of 10.000 people, some of them in front of 10 people. I could never say which was the best concert I'd ever been to, but I have a list of my top 5, and now agalloch is among them, replacing a bolt thrower gig. (Just for your information, the other 4 in the top 5 are Minsk and A storm of light @Bulle(2009), Helrunar and Geist @Nachtcafé(2004), Bloodbath @Wacken(2005) and Dissection @Darmstadt (2004))
For this concert I had to drive from Karlsruhe to Dietikon, which is about 300 kilometres. The first thing I had to do when I arrived was to look for
some swiss francs, because of course I had none on me. While searching for an ATM Machine, I got to see one of switzerlands ugliest towns, where, opposed to popular belief I failed to locate a single bank. Almost desperate I finally managed to find one in a multimedia store. By the time I arrived at the concert location the first band was already finished, but I didn't know them, so it wasn't that bad. When I bought my ticket I got the first good news, opposed to the running order that was published on the website, Agalloch would be playing for 2 hours (one and a half hour according to the website). So I got myself a beer and watched the second band of the evening, Velnias, which weren't bad, but I was there for another band.
Then, the moment had come, Agalloch entered the stage for their soundcheck and to set up the "ambiance" and then they started.
As you can see in the video the first song was "Limbs" and it only got better from there. Since "ashes against the grain" is my favourite album I was very happy to hear "falling snow" and "our fortress is burning part 2- bloodbirds". The songs of marrow of the spirit are better live and at the end they played some old songs of "The Mantle" including "A desolation song" and "You were but a ghost in my arms".
The two hours were over way to soon, and I still had my 300 kilometres drive home, when I finally arrived at home I was toast.
But it was worth every minute and the high cost, this concert was a prime example why I prefer Club Concerts to festivals. A friend of mine had seen Agalloch the day before on Ragnarök Festival, they only got to play 45 minutes (what's that? like three songs?) and the sound must have been terrible. (even if it sounds differently in the youtube video, the sound actually was quite good)
Would kill to have seen Dissection live. Super jealous of that.
Will be seeing Agalloch for the second time at MDF. I thought they were very good, but not anywhere near my favorite concerts when I saw them last year. Hopefully they can up the ante to the level you saw them at.
Or maybe you're just a bigger Agalloch fan than I am.
I love Velnias, too. Excellent band, would rank them above Agalloch in terms of live shows in intimate venues. But a venue of that size wouldn't convey their performance well.

Although it was during the dreaded maha kali phase, that dissection concert was great, you never truely appreciate what a great song night's blood is until you've seen it live
It's possible, that I am a bigger Agalloch fan, they are among my favourite bands.
I didn't pay Velnias the attention they deserved, I was tired from the drive and severly lacking in beer, I'm going to listen to them when I find the time.
