I'm going to start by saying this is mostly meant tongue in cheek...


So after a hot start to the year, the Oilers plummeted and began being on the wrong end of some absolutely horrible reffing where it seemed like the Oilers weren't allowed to win... And after all the anti Oiler conspiracies start coming out, even Tom Renney finally said something about it... So we go from 1st in the NHL early on, all the way to 29th, and only because of how bad Columbus was... So we're set to pick 2nd in a draft where there is arguably only one elite talent. The only elite team in the west is getting old and always choke leaving no true rival for the Pens out East. We're an up and coming team that could really use one more elite player to set us up to dominate the west... And we win the lottery, giving us that player. Coincidence?

We definitely were lucky.......we were also lucky that MTL got a bit hot at the end and finished in 28th instead of 29th or they would have been picking Nail.

Now we need our luck to continue in regards to Tambo being smart enough to make the right decision (picking Yakupov) and not to overthink this simple decision

It all started with 05/06 finals. lowe made a deal with bettman to let carolina win to increase ratings. That allowed us to get our first ever overall draft pick. Our 2nd 1st overall pick was for when pronger left which gave edmonton a bad reputation. Then the 3rd overall pick is for when heatly and hossa did not want to come to edmonton which added to already ruined reputation of edmonton. Now our debt is finally been full filled and therefore edmonton will not get the 1st overall draft pick next year. /SARCASM
