A reminder: NCAA sem-finals later today

4:30 pm Ferris State vs Union on ESPNU
8 pm Minnesota (Boyd, Larson) vs Boston College (Wey) on ESPN2

Finals are on Saturday, April 7, at 7pm on ESPN2
Interesting to see Union College come on to be a power house in College Hockey. Many moons ago I attended a College in what they call the Tri-Capital area (Albany, Schenectady and Troy) and the only college that I recall that had a hockey program in that area at the time was RPI, whereas everyone else were schools primarily with Division III sports teams none of which were ice hockey.

Then again living in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 90's UNO did not have a hockey program either. The only ice hockey in town was the USHL Omaha Lancers who played at Aksarben. Surprising to see how quickly that school's program was elevated.

So the College games tonight could impact the caps playoffs if they make it.
I wonder how much about the pay is accurate. Players don't get paid salary during the playoffs, but there are playoff bonuses and I don't see why he wouldn't get his share? Also, not sure why he wouldn't be able to collect a signing bonus. By the way, it's Chris Kreider who you are referring to in your post. As to base salary, it's true there would be no salary to collect.

Of course, as with many late season signings, there is a lot of confusion about Kreider; Friedman had to revise his 30 thoughts this week because the original had some mis-information about the situation.

Not looking like Kreider will be available Saturday with BC up 4-0 through two periods. BC goalie Parker Milner has been excellent from what I've seen.

Ferris State won the early game. Jeremy Welsh of Union would be a very strong signing.

And Welsh was signing with Carolina probably around the same time you were posting this.

Yeah. Nice little consolation price signing, playing two days later and burning your one-year ELC in the process.

BC national champs once again. Ferris State stood up fairly well defensively for a while but I don't think anyone was beating BC.

Wey had an assist on the 3rd goal and was a +3. Any chance he goes pro?

Up to him I'd guess. I think it's probably for the best given the D turnover next year.

Has one year of NCAA eligibility left, but a lot of key players will be leaving BC, including Kreider and Wey's d-partner Dumoulin. "Up to him" is a good way of putting it.

2 of the 3 Caps prospects playing in the CHL had their seasons end tonight. Galiev and Saint John beat Sam Carrier and Baie Comeau, so Galiev is still playing in the playoffs.

Dman draft pick, Samuel Carrier: Unsigned at this time. Caps hold his rights until June 1, 2012. Time to keep an eye on whether he goes to Hershey on an ATO and whether he signs an ELC with the Caps.

Goalie Brandon Anderson is under contract to the Caps; if the Caps and Bears want, he can report to Hershey since his junior season is over. Anderson was with Hershey for a short time last year after his season ended. This season, he left the Wheat Kings for a time taking personal leave. Returned for the playoffs, so who knows what’s going on. He actually played tonight for the first time since 2/21; coming in for the starter Boes when Brandon was down 4-0 to Edmonton.

video interview with BC Ntl Champs – Coach York, Patrick Wey, and Pat Mullane (attended Caps development camp last summer)

I expected Wey would stay at BC for his senior season, definitely sounds like that's his intent at this time based on this interview. Obviously, things can change (and this interview wouldn't be a place to announce he was leaving.)

link to video with interview with the 3

As already known, Brandon Anderson is with the Bears, Leone reports today that Kolzig is in WBS and was working with Anderson.

Goalie Steffen Søberg has signed a four-year contract with last year's regular season runners-up in the GET-Ligaen, Vålerenga. He'll start for them next season...

Also, people can use google translate.

The team he was rumored to be signing with (see post on 3/30), but it's interesting it's a 4 year contract and the note at the end about hiring an intl goaltending coach, thanks. This had a bit more detail, too:

It'll be a nice change to have a call-up available with that kind of skill set.

Really hoping Halifax beats Rimouski. If they do i'm gonna finally be able to see Galiev play. Huberdeau/Galiev vs. Mackinnon/Frk. Not bad.

He looks bigger this year.

Like the way he came back to fight for puck on D

Noticed that as well. Kinda looks like Kuznetsov using that long stick. Galiev is sort of a stealth prospect in that he isn't getting much notoriety. Hopefully he'll attend the prospect camp.

I'm excited to see him as a pro. I think he's going to be a find.

He was after all projected by some scouts to be a first rounder so it's not that unexpected.

Still nice to see though.

Granted, its on the best Junior team in a long time, but it's hard not to get excited about a 10-13-23 line in ten playoff games.
