This is too complicated and phx doesn't trade their best 2 Dmen for none in return either I don't think.

But that D would be awesome.

I few things

- We have threads for this
- Why does Phoenix do this?
- Defensive problems can be patched and mitigated when you can utterly out score teams.

Also, who's R Murray?

Of course we would consider. Phoenix laughs it off though. We have a thread for this, BTW.

You are right on both counts. Wishful thinking on my part.

Yandle was still top 15 in dman points and a clear #1. He wont be getting moved.

Rundblad might be possible, but Gormely you might have to overpay for after the year he had. Considering Rundblad was traded along with a 2nd round pick for Turris I dont think you would have to give up a big asset to get him.

5 of their top 6 prospects are dmen so they would probably be willing to part with one or two of them. They also may lose Whitney and Doan this summer so a trade might be there.

For heaven sakes, please stop trying to turn Yakupov in to a defenseman.

Do you make this trade?

I've seen it mentioned on the main trade board at least half a dozen times over the past week. Personally, I'd rather just draft Yakupo, but I think it's an overpayment by Montreal.

Can't see.

I see now.

Pass. I'm completely biased, I think Yakupov will be that good. Scary good. "We'd be face palming for years" good

rather trade gagner than mps. The second one i dont like much, and im betting phx fans think its outrageous.

theres just too much.

OEL

I realize there would probably have to be some tinkering with picks/prospects to make it work, but I'd be giddy just thinking of being able to have this as our list of D after the trade:

Smid
Petry
Yandle
OEL
Sutton
Tuebert/Peckham

Our D problems would be gone and we'd have a nice young top 4 that can grow with the team.

From Phoenix side, would the excitement of drafting 1st overall (especially if they move in the offseason) and getting someone who has the potential to take people out of their seats be enough to entice them?

Thoughts?
They might give you one of them for that package...

are you guys serious? you wouldn't take 3rd+Subban for 1st?

thats absurd, mtl wouldn't come close to offering that. even if we threw in gagner and whitney.

Poll was added by accident when a thread was merged in and I can't seem to remove it. It's been closed. We can't have a poll for every trade proposal.

It's a great proposal from our POV and you're right MTL won't offer that.

For me it's 8.5 + 8 for 9. I'd just prefer the 9. Like I said earlier I am biased.

Would anyone be opposed to having Grebeshkov back as the 6/7 D-Man instead of Potter? To me he makes more sense, and he did have two OK seasons (well almost 40 points in one and a +12 rating) before one bad one where the entire team sucked. His outlet pass wasn't quite as good as Pitkanen's, but it was close.

Scenario 1:

Oilers sign UFA Bryan Allen (@3 years $4 million per)
Oilers sign Denis Grebeshkov 1 year, $1.75 million

Scenario 2:

Oilers trade (C) Sam Gagner for (D) Jay Bouweemester

Feaster can sell the acquistion of Gagner (who would slide into their no.1 center role pretty much right off the hop) + the addition of Baertschi into their top six as a "phased rebuild". Oilers hope playing with more offensive kids revitalizes Jay Bo's game.

I see them actually keeping Iginla in this scenario and having a top six along the lines of (a mix of kids + vets)

Tanguay Gagner Iginla
Cammalleri Backlund Baertschi

Oilers blueline then becomes

Smid Bouw
Whitney Petry
Schultz Sutton

We sign an Arnott/Stoll/Jokinen in the interim to replace Gagner. Downside with this is Bouweemester is nowhere as physical as Allen even if he moves the puck great.

Yakupov will be better long term then both Subban and the 3rd overall pick.

No contest that I would prefer Grebs to Potter. I think he makes too much in the KHL to consider coming back though. We can't drop 3M+ on him or anything and I know he was making more then that over there.

How much is he making there? His numbers weren't that great last year maybe his Russian team wouldn't want him back at a high price. I wonder if he'd come back here for a more reasonable price.

If he could come here and play well with all our kids (who are quite frankly much better than the Gagners/Coglianos/Nilssons he played with here before), he could score himself a nice long term deal.

No thanks...he was Gilbert lite. He is doing well making a living in the K.

On your third pairing though that's not bad ...

Smid Petry
Allen (UFA) Whitney
Schultz Grebs
Sutton

That actually doesn't look like a terrible group. Not award winning or anything, but Allen gives you one big, mean veteran d-man, Grebs gives you one more puck mover off the blue line when we want to play a more uptempo game and Schultz is a good guy to shelter him.

I was pretty sure he was getting something close to what his qualifying offer would've been in the NHL which was close to 3mil. Here's the thing, if his numbers aren't great why do you want him?

2 sheets of double pane glass for one sheet of triple pane glass?

To Edmonton: Green

To Washington: Hemsky and Whitney

It's a big risk for both teams, but gives us a shot at a better D man, although he hasn't shown it in his limited time this year.

Green's an RFA. Any idea what he is looking for in a new contract?
