So Yakupov is the 'party dude'?
According to the theme song, at least

IMO, that would be an awesome theme for playoff avatars when we get to that point.

Obviously the Oilers will have to do their due diligence and check out Yakupov’s character as well, though I can tell you that one unnamed veteran Oilers player communicated to me that he is apparently a really good kid.
Wonder who the vet Oiler is. Hall didn't play against him in Jr... Who else could know the kid? Hmmm

Gagner maybe? I'm guessing he goes back home to Ontario in the summer for a while, they may have bumped into each other or know a friend of a friend type of thing.

Definitely Gagner. Stauffer threw in "veteran" to throw us off, as many don't think of Gagner as a veteran because of his age. I can't see how any of the actual old guys on the team could know Yakupov that well.

Well as young as Gagner is, he's been here for a half decade now so the "veteran" label wouldn't be entirely inaccurate, lol.

Yeah Gagner makes sense, his hometown of London, Ontario is just down the street from Sarnia where Yakupov plays.

Could be Khabibulin. Maybe Khabibulin has met him in Russia or has mutual friends

Seems like a Perfect Scenario for the Nail..........Khabibulin is Russian and lives in Arizona and will be able to show Yakupov the ways of a pro hockey player and will be able to speak to Nail in his native tongue......if needed.

The best part about acquiring yakupov is that there won't be much room left for UFA's to sign. It wont be that they don't want to come here, but rather than we won't need them. If we could sign Schultz and another good Dman, there wont be much need for UFAs in the future.

Our team will be stacked!!!

Was listening to the April 11th podcast of oilers lunch and Stauffer said it was Hall who told him this. Guess Hall knows him through all his OHL connections and had a positive review of Yakupov.

No idea why he became "unnamed Oiler vet" in the blog.

First of all, that's a great endorsement, second maybe the "unnamed vet" is there so you have to listen to him to find out more? Wouldn't surprise me anyways.

The only connection I can think of is Cogliano playing with Yakupov at the Biosteel camp. Although Cogliano isn't currently an Oiler, it might be him.

RNH will be there for sure, I would think. It would be cool if Hall was there to.

Bring Eberle too.

Then, after you draft Yakupov, fly all four of them to Justin Schultz's place and have them just walk into his house and be like, 'Where the **** else can offer you these passes, *****? Where are the cookies?'

Have all the Big 3 there (Ebs, Hallsy, and Nuge) to greet Nail. But knowing Ebs he'll probably be too busy training (love his work ethic.....).

I'm really hoping Nuge hits the gym hard this offseason. Maybe go into Gary Roberts training program. Can you imagine how dominant Nuge would be with some more strength?

I wouldn't think he would be too busy. It's not like there gone for a week or anything.

I'm really disappointed in the behavior of other sub forums. There just taking shots at our team for no reason, other than jealousy. As soon as the oil had the pick all I hear is "He sucks", "He's a bust", "He'll go back to the KHL", and much more BS. If they had the pick it would be the opposite.

I think Yakupov has the potential to be the best first overall since Crosby, other than Stamkos, although even that is arguable.

The circlejerk from sympathizers on the CBJ subforum was priceless. As if Jackets fans want to be pitied or looked down upon by unaffected fans of other teams with unwanted opinions.

Yeah, I guess everybody hates oiler fans because we fluked out and won the lottery. They think it's our fault or something. They act like we wouldn't rather have our team in the playoffs. Our PP is going to be INSANE next year if we draft Yak. Haters gonna hate. Can't wait untill we make the playoffs and everybody jumps on the Oiler bandwagon.

I hate hearing people make fun of us and get angry because we're jacked that we won the lottery. All of us were happy we improved and didn't want to finish last. At the beginning of the year most of us realistically assumed we would be a bottom 5 team, but we wouldn't finish last. We lucked out and got the pick, we didn't tank, we improved and got lucky. The hate for this phenomenon is ludicrous.

Not really.

Not anymore than any of the others has had the "potential" to be the best since crosby.
