I hope he stays in Vancouver long term. I want to light him up like a Christmas tree a few years down the line when all of our kids are coming into their own while Vancouver is past their due date.
It wasn't too long ago that we were looking for a sniper alongside Hemsky, sounds like nobody's been talking about what Hemsky can do with a sniper.
Hemsky was rounding back into form late in the season. It's not what RNH, Eberle and Hall can do with Yakupov. I think the question is what Hemsky can do with someone who actually shoots the puck blasting down the wing.
Just when Hemsky was rounding back into form, Hall got injured.

there's no guarantee if we got vanek we would be lottery team for last 3 years.
They should keep him but they'll trade him for multiple players... likely a centre and a dman in a possible 3 way deal. Columbus and Toronto high on the list of potential teams that will be involved.

Worst trading partners. TO have nothing we can't get with other spare parts combinations (unlikely they trade Gardiner, and trading the top pick for a guy with only 1 season under is belt would be stupid, not a proven player), and Columbus already have to move Nash, which we should have zero interest in, so I doubt they move any of Wiz, Johansen or JJ, so basically, nothing of significance.
Really curious to know how that scenario works in your head, unless we're getting screwed real hard.
Moved from Prince George a couple years ago. I used to post here and in the all-time draft. Had to take a break from all the negativity.
I'm a Horcoff fan.
Right on, i hear ya, love the site, but the negativity is retarded on here sometimes.
And as for trading with CBus and/or TO, no way, neither team has anything that is remotely close to worth the Yak...bad idea (same goes for the habs and the isles). Never look a gift horse in the mouth. This is (or at least should be considered) a slam dunk no-brainer, if anyone has any doubts, look at the poll.
- Draft Yakupov
- Sign Schultz
- Re-sign Dubnyk, Gagner amd Petry
- Sign a mid-tier defenceman (Carle, Stuart, Allen)
- Get rid of Cam Barker
It will be a good offseason.
If they can do all of the above and rid themselves of Horcoff's contract through trade or amnesty clause and bring in Chris Kelly or Jason Arnott (on a short-term contract) to replace him, it will be a GREAT offseason.
Agree 100% - pretty simple plan that will improve this team.
I just hope that Tambo does not go crazy with his all of his "options" and trades the first pick for 2 birds in a bush....
LOL at the poll being 133-1. I'll take a wild guess and say that us Oilers fans kinda like this Yakupov kid.
I'm surprised that there aren't a few more votes for established NHLer. If the pick was offered for Pietrangelo, Doughty or maybe even OEL, we couldn't turn that down but those guys obviously won't be on the table.

The only deals I'd really consider from those teams look like this:
To Toronto - 1st overall pick
To Edmonton - Jake Gardiner, 5th overall pick (Forsberg, Galchenyuk or Grigorenko - the Islanders at least will take a d-man), 2nd round pick
