I got some heat at the time for saying it but what everyone likes about DS is the fact that he coaches his team before during and after a game.

With TM he just sent his players out on the ice and "let them be accountable". He NEVER out coached a single team. He had success and was a good teacher as long as it wasn't during a game.

DS asks his players to be accountable and then holds HIMSELF accountable for guiding them through whatever it takes to succeed. Sure he will call a player or two out at times but that too is part of the process. Especially when he calls himself out too.

Sure is nice to have someone at the helm who at least is constantly working with the team to win the game.

Who was that redheaded chick on the canucks who did that dive on that video?

She sure is ugly but man can she dive.

Cool of the Canucks to let a girl be on their team. I may be wrong but there were allot of figure skaters out there playing for them. China dolls who couldn't seem to stay on their skates.

As for the Burrows snort well guys like that always end up getting theirs, just a matter of time.

Let's put it this way, if Penner and Richards in particular play as they did yesterday for a whole series...it would be very hard for anyone to complain about their trades ever again. MR, I expect will play that hard in every playoff game for the rest of his career.

If Penner does play like that for the whole series, we will win it.

Still happy from an oiler perspective on that deal--but if Penner wakes up and kicks the canucks butt--I will do my best to get the oilers to give the kings the first overall pick this year as a thank you

MR is doing exactly what he is known to do and that is be one of the best playoff gamers there is. Great trade for us. Carter was too.

I said it before and I will say it again, if Penner can get three more game winners I will never ever say another disparaging word about him as long as I live and will always contend that he was worth the money and a good trade for us.

First, I'm happy for Penner. Dont care how much you make playing a game. He was going through some stuff, obviously. This guy obviously plays better when things are good and he's confident.

What's great on a game level is when Penner is strong, it opens things up for the other lines. I think we'll see this come into play.

I've bashed the Richards trade many times, but if he continues to play like he did last night, I'll happily eat crow.

I'll keep that up a notch. Still tonight

So proud to sport my Kings gear all day (always am, but today was... you know, even better ). I had a lunch meeting that I had to get dressed up for and was so happy it was cold enough to sport my Kings scarf. Even got a high five from a random fellow fan at the grocery store.

About to watch the game again without having to worry about who is going to win.

I got a bad feeling someone on that Canuck team is going to try to knock MR out of a game or two. Something cheap. How else are they going to control that style? He's out-of-mind, ape****. How do control that?

Someone is either gonna knee-on-knee him or head shot him. Who cares if they get a 2 game suspension? If you can knock out a one man wrecking ball for a series, whats a suspension to a 3rd or 4th liner?

Im not liking this feeling at all. Keep your head up Rick.....for the love of God, KEEP IT UP!

Richards and Doughty need to keep their heads up - concussed once already this season is enough.

Great win by the kings. Mike richards was amazing!! All the diving and whining makes the canucks hated!! it's self-inflicted. Lets win game 2!! an upset could be on the cards, and lets face it, everyone loves an underdog!!

He did get hurt this year (played in 77 games not 82), and hasn't played the same since.

He did. He had a shoulder injury cause by Rinaldo early in the season.

The concussion was last year, caused by Erik Cole.

As a Canucks fan, this was embarassing. I typically disagree with the many fans from other teams which claim the Canucks are cheap. I don't think they are typically any more cheap than other teams. But the embelishments from Kesler and Luongo do nothing to help me support my case. Nor does Bitz's cheap shot for that matter. At least he was punished accordingly.

The Kings most certainly deserved to win game 1.

I'm hoping to see a much more focused Canucks squad for game 2. We'd be in a pretty bad position if we go to LA down 2 games.

looking forward to game two. Mike Richards is such a gamer in playoffs. He was fantastic! Loved Carter, and I am so happy Penner had such a good game. Hopefully this will give him a boost. Lots of hits, a goal! awesome

I'm extremely worried about this too. Hopefully they have a little more pride than to hit with intent to injure, but I doubt it.
