I've noticed that when he is with his wife everything is brighter (the room/lighting) but with this son it's darker and gloomier. Not sure if this is a clue to anything or not.
I never noticed that, I'll definitely look out for it next time though.
What I don't really understand yet is how the guy's boss and the whole "we took out his family, I'll take care of it" angle is working. So were they saying both his son and wife are dead? So that means he's just imagining every interaction he has with them? I'm super confused by that.

I think that's for the viewers, so they don't get confused, but who knows.

Yeah it probably is, but I still didn't catch on to it I just finally realized last night which shrink was which reality, and which detective was which reality...then within 5 minutes I forget anyways. Oddly enough, and whether intentional or not, I think it makes the show more entertaining for me. If the main character himself is having a hard time realizing what's real, it's fitting that I can't make sense of it either!

I was also confused by that. I thought that they were working in a cross over with The Event for a second and she was back to her "alien" character.
There has got to be some sort of reason why they wanted him and his family dead. Maybe he was getting close to uncovering that the higher ups in the police force are crooked or something. He seems paranoid by the fact that they have people assigned to "watch him" as he recovers, and people keep asking him questions about how he is solving the crimes. Also, they keep trying to get him to take time off. I think they are attempting to cover something up and banking on the fact that he is too distracted by his current state figure out the rest of their wrong doings. They are getting concerned though that he is able to see things other don't see because of his situation so he may be able to stumble upon clues.
Must be confused, or didn't really want to invest in the first place.....ratings dropping like a lead zepplin.
That's become the curse of NBC. Unless a show is absolutely amazing right off the bat, people lose give up quickly on shows because they know that everything new on NBC has such a high probability of crashing and burning and getting canceled.

If only NBC could advertise their shows on other networks
It's really a big problem they have. Any new show they come out with is limited to whatever tiny audience they already have watching their network. The only time you're going to see advertising for a new NBC show is during their other terrible rating shows.
I liked how they did the parallel with Kate's life last episode. She had her sister die, and in the two realities she had two very different lives.

Shows with Spring premieres are in an especially tough position. The new fall shows are at least advertised all summer long on AGT, which does pretty well for them. Then they've got Sunday night NFL games, which are huge for them. Springs shows have nothing big to advertise during.

That seems like a damn good guess. So now his "condition" is actually just making their (the higher ups) jobs more difficult because he's able to live in two realities.
really starting to like this show, hope to see it finish out the season, although I saw they had a big drop in numbers for the last episode which imo may have been the best one yet.
I wonder if that Serial Killer has some sort of similar condition, or if he's just crazy. They didn't kill off the FBI woman, so hopefully that storyline continues, the serial killer was heading to Oregon, but it was in his son's reality, where as Britten was thinking about moving with his wife. Let's see if he goes through with that, and how it will affect him.
Netflix is bringing back Arrested Development, and they've been rumoured to be asking about the rights to The River, from ABC. Maybe they'll look into securing the future rights to Awake, which has been the best reviewed new show this season. I'm not sure how Awake does in internet viewing or DVR numbers though.

I noticed that too and my wife thought I was crazy when I tried to explain. Killer is in the son's reality but was taking a flight to Portland, the location of where the wife was moving. Mind blown.

Since the killer was saying the world needs people like them, I would think he is in some way having a similar condition. With him going to portland in his sons world I would think they somehow incorporate that the killer is like Britten in some way. I noticed how the killer was saying before Britten no one could even get close to him which makes me think he has some kind of ability that is similar to Britten and that's how he's been able to do what he does without getting caught. Looking forward to see how they handle this in future episodes.
I have another 2 or 3 eps on dvr again, I really need to keep up. From the few posts here it sounds like it's actually getting better, which is great because from the first few eps that I saw I loved it so far.
Did I miss something? I don't remember a big bombshell.
Anyone else think that the guy's sister really is alive and Dr. Lee is making him think he's crazy, just like with Detective Britton?
The bombshell I'm referring to was his image of Dr. Lee that he created to talk to. I think it's a big deal to Britten's character. He still likes to think both realities are real, but if he's able to create an entire image of Dr. Lee to communicate to, then who knows what else he's capable of in these "realities".

I didn't think it was that big a deal. He was seeing a penguin everywhere, so imaging Lee in there with him isn't much of a stretch. Plus, I'm not 100% convinced that he wasn't actually in there with him and he's in on the plan with the conspirators.
I don't know what's going on with his boss and the guy from big bang theory (dr gablehauser) but it's interesting to see what happens and why they are trying to take him out.
