Back around 2004 playoffs Melnyk asked the CBC to not have Cole call Sens games anymore because he was so frustrated at his calls. Cole replied, "you'd better want me calling your games because it means your team will be in the finals".
I put this on the Sens board, but it's my favorite, use your imagination as to what he actually trying to describe.
I honestly don't care if he's accurate or not in what he says, I'm watching the game myself and I'd like to think that I have the necessary cognitive functions in order to figure out that Gonchar is not Karlsson. That being said, I can't think of a single person available who I'd rather have call the game. The man has called the greatest hockey moments in my memory, and his voice and style could make paint drying absolutely thrilling. I'd gladly trade the trash the Leafs get during the regular season for Cole.
Gilroy is also Karlsson (though he hasn't made that mistake so far in the playoffs). Karlsson is also frequently on the ice while he is serving a penalty for 2 minutes.

"Kelly makes a soft dump in the corner"
That's pretty nitpicky... any person watching hockey for years knows thats a lob-shot of a dump in. Not a hard slapper to get it deep.
To non-Sens fans it's just Bob Cole - great voice, good hockey guy, been around for ages, so who really cares.
For Sens fans, it just harkens back to the days of Leafs beating up on Sens and Cole/Neale loving every minute of it. Usually it's frustrating at best, but when you're losing a game and he continues to mess everything up, it makes it downright enraging.
It is rude and unprofessional of Cole to not even know the Sens players names.
hes got the names right.. he just doesnt have the face right.. who cares, this guy is the best play by play man in the league.. i watched msg live, and the cbc replay just to hear him call the game..
maybe you are all senile if you cant tell the difference between karlsson and gonchar.. probably easier for us to distenguish between the players seeing as we see it in 45 inch hdtv, cole is sitting in a press box who knows how far away.
One of Kevin Bieksa's first games in Toronto, the CBC crew were talking about him being a local boy, and the camera pans to Bieksa's parents in the crowd.
Cole: There they are. They must be so proud, Mr. and Mrs....Mom & Dad.
(There was a slight pause, when he realized he had NO idea how to pronounce Bieksa.)

I agree totally. I don't understand the hate for Bob Cole. I watched the Bruins vs Capitals last night and the guys doing the play by play and colour commentary were awful.
I would love to have Cole involved with every single Bruins game this year in the playoffs!! Everybody makes mistakes and I honestly don't think Cole makes any more mistakes than the "other" guys doing the same job....

I think most people are unfairly judging Cole by his own former brilliance. He's not as sharp as he once was, but I can watch the game and know what's going on, I still love his voice and he gives all the games he's doing a big time feel.
