Maybe CBC is privy to information like the study out today that showed that only 22% of Quebecers say they'll watch the playoffs while 55% of people in BC will... ie. interest and ratings will be higher when Canadian teams are involved.
This is not rocket science. You chose to be fans of out of market teams and now you want to cry like petulant children when you're forced to watch their games on a computer... like you probably do for 90% of the regular season.
Cry like petulant children?
Wow.
I have money, a decent TV and its 2012. I'm willing to pay what it costs to watch my team play hockey, regular season and playoffs. I have the option, which I take, to purchase center ice, and I do, so no crying from me. Petulantly or not. I don't have any option to get a decent feed of this game.
give me a minute. Putting down my beer to go get a petulant kleenex.
I remember a time where I had to listen to games on the radio because they weren't broadcast...what would you kids do if that happened again? Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Kids?
Willing to bet I'm older than you. I grew up watching HNIC once a week on a 19 inch black and white.
I think we got 3 channels total until I was 15.
I like what I like, namely, watching my Bruins in Hd.
A Canadian broadcaster is going to choose the game involving a Canadian based team whenever possible. That shouldn't be a shock to anyone. The game was streaming on cbc.ca just fine all night.

Well I figured it was a good guess. Should have went with this instead though...

No comparison between that stream and a good HD broadcast on my big screen.

the point is they selected a game to NOT show it, and so a competitor couldn't. If they didn't do this someone else would have shwon it.
Oh please...I'm not complaining the game wasn't in HD. I'm not even complaining that I had to watch a stream. I just wanted to watch a good stream where I could actually see the puck. I'm willing to pay, but that option wasn't even available to me. If it sounds like a white whine, so be it.
And I don't see why I in New Brunswick needed my cable company to carry a station from Peterborough Ontario.
Especially when the only two games of the playoffs that are like this involved my team, and the US (and even Europe!) could watch it on national TV.

If TSN had taken it, then the first period of the Coyotes/Blackhawks game wouldn't have been broadcast, and unlike the Bruins/Caps game - there isn't even an online stream for it.
Stick what to TSN? Most people flipped to TSN to watch S.J and St Louis, allot of people would have watched Boston and Wash instead of flipping to TSN.

This is the first Bruins game that hasn't been available to me in HD all season.
This is also the first year that Rounds 1 & 2 haven't been shown in HD on the NHL Centre Ice Package.

No it wasn't. The CBC feeds were Laggy, Slow, Froze, Crashed it didn't work at all at times.
Not to mention that when they did work the Resolution was less than SD. 240P.

TSN2. Done.
2014 can't come soon enough. CTV/TSN combined will have four HD channels to use.

And you'll need to pay for a bunch of useless channels to watch them.
CBC is readily available and streams all games. Major plusses to me.
The stream quality generally is very good (better than you get from most unofficial sources). It probably was just a matter of higher than normal traffic and in theory they'll have corrected for that by game 3.
Incidentally, for those saying that you can't get CBC streams on an IOS device (iPhone or iPad), that's not totally true. From the free CBC HNIC app, you can purchase the stream of a game for $2.99 (in Canada), I've used it a couple of times - it's pretty good quality.

I pay for HD. I already have them.
As for the stream, don't expect it to be better. The stream I watched last night was no different than the one I used to watch an Ottawa/Boston game in the regular season.

The NHL prefers CBC because it has wider availability over the air (that is, without cable or satellite). You need cable or satellite to get CTV in many areas.
CBC also dedicates a large chunk of two months of its prime time schedule to the NHL playoffs. I doubt you're going to see that with CTV who probably won't want to give up lucrative simsubs of American programming.

Chicago/Phoenix got moved to TSN2 until the St. Louis/San Jose game ended, which was part way through the 2nd period of the Chicago/Phoenix game. Either way, someone was getting shafted last night.
