Taking Crosby off the top unit is an asinine notion.
Francis and Jagr were both lefties and they had a dominant PP when Lemieux was out and after he retired. Francis would play the point and down below the goal line.
Francis and Jagr were two entirely different players and played completely different on the powerplay.
Crosby and Malkin both seek the half boards. Both want to QB the powerplay. It doesn't work.

And if Sid would recognize that Geno needs the right halfboards to get the most out of his impact on the PP and that he's best off staying on the left/center point to give us a different look, it'd work.
But it's a cluster**** even now. I'm all for simplifying things at this point. Let each of them have room on their own units and get shots to the net.
"Official Pittsburgh Penguins
Dustin Jeffrey, Deryk Engelland, Brian Strait, Richard Park, Eric Tangradi, Joe Vitale, Tyler Kennedy, Ben Lovejoy, Craig Adams, Marc-Andre Fleury and Brent Johnson took part in today's optional morning skate. "
I'm really starting to feel some guys just doesn't care enough. Most of the guys who showed some effort last game went to the optional skate

The skate was optional but I read that the whole team met at the Consol for a meeting. They care.

I really think the Penguins could use Steve MacIntyre for this game. Flame me if you want but just having him on the ice makes a difference. I feel like we won our last game of the season (flyers game) because he puts other teams in check. Confidence and momentum play big parts in hockey, and sports in general, and I believe having a badass like Big Mac would bring confidence to our players

Yeah, I'm a fan of Big Mac and enforcers, but no way in hell he should (or could) play in the playoffs. It would be like giving the Flyers a PP every time he's on the ice.
And let's not forget, the Flyers didn't do anything dirty or cheap last game. They played straight up hockey and kicked our ass.
