He really screwed us over when he left the way and when he did. But in the end it was the best thing for us because it forced Lou to clean out all that dreck and turn the roster over.

Plus now we have a real coach.

Just think, if Sutter stayed Langenbrunner's still here and we most likely never get Kovy.

In retrospect, the best thing that ****er ever did was leave the Devils high and dry. He was the mastermind behind two of the most awful series losses this franchise has ever endured. Amateur hour is the best way to describe his tactics against the Canes in 09. Ugh.....just pisses me off thinking about it.

I'm sure the cows on his range will be happy to see him, and he'll be with them for a long while I think. Hard to see him landing another gig anywhere else in the league ever again.

Maclean actually got another coaching job within a year.

I think Sutter might be able to be an assistant if a spot opens with LA with his brother. He might get the job in Edmonton should that spot open. He could probably even get a job with Columbus. Who knows?

I didn't like him much. I wasn't mad he left. If anything I was worried more about the instability. With the coaching situation. He wasn't a very good coach, and yeah like said he bombed in the playoffs.

As a huge Langenbrunner fan I actually wore my old Langenbrunner Devils jersey to a Blues game against the Lightning here last month, I'm glad he's gone. I'm pretty happy he's not here anymore. Sykora was a great replacement.

I'm not that surprised Calgary and Sutter went seperate ways I mean when you miss the playoffs three years in a row you should know it is going to happen sooner or later.

I called this weeks ago. When I found out Sutter was in his last year of a 3 year contract it was easy to see coming. I remember when the lost that shootout to Columbus, and that really seemed to be the end of it for him.

MacLean got a job as an assistant with his best friend. He was fine as an assistant with us anyway. He's never getting a HEAD coaching job again though, at least not at the NHL level.

Neither is Brent, I don't think. Even if he did get an offer outside of Edmonton (and based on his record of five seasons without a playoff win and missing three straight years, that's no slam-dunk), he'd look like the world's biggest hypocrite for going to say, Montreal after all that nonsense about him going home and attending to Red Deer when he left us.

MacLean might get another chance. Not like he pulled a Tremblay and drove Marty out of town. And Sutter is connected enough that he might get another chance.

Given the way the Devils played in a season and a half since MacLean got fired, and the fact they won the division the year before he took over, I don't see how he didn't do the worst coaching job in NHL history with us. Bryan Trottier never got another shot and even his tenure with the Rangers wasn't as bad as Mac's with us.

Yeah Maclean won't get a head coaching job. Unless he can be very successful with Carolina I doubt it.

Not only like you said given the fact we won the division the year before with 103 points, and the year after got to 102 points, and had the best second half of the season in the league beginning 2 weeks after he was fired he's got a garbage resume.

I loved Maclean as a player, but I take satisfaction Deboer coached the worst team in the Conference last season, and then clinched the playoffs in Maclean's new building by blowing out his team 5-0. The fact Maclean MIGHT have been caught calling the fans ''F-ing selfish'' for booing his team turns my stomach. If he really thinks that he's selfish for collecting a paycheck. Dude probably got a million bucks for that trainwreck he called a coaching job. A person sentenced to community service could have done a better job.

Scary thought.

Also, we wouldn't have ended up with Larsson either.....

I wonder if he made the Flames ride the bikes after they lost to the Blue Jackets a few weeks ago?

Oh come on. This is like everyone hating again/liking again/hating again /liking again Lemaire. Make up your minds.

Almost EVERYONE loved Sutter as a coach and were only pi$$ed at him because he left so abruptly.

I mean I wished for him to fall off his tractor and hit his head while tending to that stupid farm of his, but I liked his coaching. Except for when he was intimidated by Tom Renney and the NYR in the playoffs.

No kidding. The way he left was pathetic and he soured whatever positive memories he may have held. He left a ****** taste in everyone's mouth because he got greedy with 2 successful years here and thought he could have his cake and eat it too by going back home to "spend time" with his family and still be an NHL head coach. (What a shock, didn't see that coming.)

Karma's a *****. He had a good gig here and he threw it in the trash. I don't feel sorry for him. He was a good coach here, no one denied that.

I was pi$$ed at Sutter for the end of the '08-09 season and overplaying the checking line at the expense of the Parise line and Elias. Look at Pandolfo's icetime compared to Elias's in Game 7, it'll make you sick.

At the end of the game I was screaming 'Go home, Sutter! Go home!'. Then I was comatose for an hour afterward going to, getting on and on the train.

Why he played Pandolfo so much that game is beyond me. I'm glad Jacques didn't make the same mistake in 2010. He scratched him the whole playoffs. Not that it made any different, but his last two seasons here he was about ten steps behind everyone else on the ice. Still mad, and bitter he injured Josefson. Yes I'm aware he didn't mean to do it.

Brent Sutter will be Canada's head coach at the Mens World Hockey Championship. Muller and Boucher will assist.
