Pearson's an interesting pick at 35 for Toronto -- I'm hoping for Jake McCabe. I like it though, the top-10 all seem to be getting a player that fits a relative need.
Sorry but Maidens with 36? We're cool with Kerdiles there. Irvine, CA kid with offensive upside? No-brainer.
Well it isn't a no-brainer if the Ducks don't think he is the BPA. They have shown in the past that being from Southern California doesn't automatically mean you get drafted by them.

that's true. I just don't feel maidens is the BPA. Not by a long shot. Ducks could feel differently, but my expectations are the Ducks would be more interested in Kerdiles, Dansk, or Samuelsson.
IMO Dallas will take a centre or D man before RW if the RW is about the same talent level as the Centre or D.
Meaning i think if the top 12 goes as predicted here and guys like faksa/rielly/Teravainen are gone, Dallas will likely draft Girgensons as centre prospect or Ceci as a D prospect over the next best RW in Collberg.
Ideally though if we cant get one of the top 12 picks you have listed, id rather we trade down 5-6 spots, get some more assests and draft Hertl.
I think you are correct with the 12 players who will be the top 12 picks..not sure about order, but those seem to be the best 12. Unless someone like Tampa swoop on Subban.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Columbus won't pick Grigorenko under any circumstances, but I would say it's highly unlikely they do so. They have so many holes to fill, they can pick any position and still fill a need. With their history, I think they will avoid Grigs.
How long is this gonna last? Not every Russian is Zherdev or Filatov. If the Blue Jackets continue to stay away from Russians when they are the BPA they will have a tough time competing in the future

Those who don't learn from history...True enough that not every Russian is going to turn into those guys, but at #2 can they pick someone they feel might be a risk? It's definitely possible they pick Grigorenko, but think there is also a good chance they don't. Can avoid in their minds potential trouble by taking someone else and really since when has teams stopped making bad decisions because it'd hurt them later ?

It's gonna last every time there's a Russian that is labeled as lazy & having "motivational issues." When the 2008 draft came along and people were hesitant about Filatov because 1. Zherdev 2. "scouts were not as impressed with his defensive game, preferring to focus on his offensive abilities" , they were mocked cause "all Russians aren't the same" Umm ok

Columbus took Brule over Kopitar, M. Staal, & C. Price because he was "BPA". They took Filatov over Myers, Hodgson, & Del Zotto because he was "BPA". Meanwhile they traded for the #1 pick and took Nash over Bouwmeester & Lehtonen despite the fact the other two were "BPA" over him. BPA doesn't mean squat if they don't have the desire or motivation to get better, which describes Zherdev, Filatov, & more importantly Grigorenko

This is true.....however I still think CBJ will avoid Russians if its feasable, and it definately is in their situation (Either drafting a Murray/Dumba at 2, or more likely trading down to a team thats desperate for 'their guy'......MTL and TOR fit this bill)

Actually has nothing to do with Russians. Just lazy players. If Yakupov was there Columbus would be more than happy to draft a Russian.
