He can't be a superstar. He doesn't play for the Penguins. It's not allowed. End of story.
Keep in mind that he's been playing a lot with Richards--Gaborik. One's a big set up guy. The other one's an excellent goal scorer. Hagelin doesn't have those kinds of skills. He has good skills but not that good. Are Richards or Gaborik superstars? Some might say so. I'm not too sure. Ask yourself will either be a Hall of Fame player? It's a possibility but not a sure thing. Hagelin adds to their line but he's also riding on their coattails a bit.

His hands will hold him back. For example, an elite player would have burried that puck from Gabby last night. He'll still get his fair share of goals because he shoots a lot and finds open spaces. He's going to be a 55-60 point player. Will maybe hit 65 one or two seasons. Will probably also be an exceptional playoff performer based on what I saw last night
I think he's going to have an insane playoffs, possibly even leading the team in scoring.
I think he's going to score 70-80 points next season.
He has the potential to be a faster Zetterberg.
He is elite and will become a superstar in this league. It's so easy to forget he's a rookie without even a full year under his belt yet, and he's so consistently productive, in forechecking, in causing turnovers, in scoring.
We are so lucky.
I truly think we've hit the jackpot with this kid.
GO HAGELIN GO
Elite? Superstar? What?
I see a 50~60 point winger who should have a very solid career. Gaborik finished with 76 points this season. You really think Hagelin can replicate that type of production? Talk about unrealistic expectations.....
Hagelin is what I like to call, a filler piece. Meaning, you can play him in any situation, on any line, and he would complete that line perfectly. Play him with the top line, he does all their dirty work, and doesnt hurt them at all with his skill set and speed. play him with a lower line, he elevates their game by being more talented than them, but still willing, and able, to play their game to a T.
He's a chameleon. He may never score 60+ pts, but he's an invaluable piece to have. Have a top forward injured? Stick Hagelin up there till he gets healthy.
Have too many top forwards? Move Hagelin down, he'll still help the team and wont hurt us in that sort of a role a-la Wolski.

Yeah... I mean its possible he becomes a Zetterberg but... I had a better shot at winning that record mega millions jackpot.

HOF is made up of the cream of the crop--the elite players throughout hockey history--with a notable few exceptions--like Clark Gillies IMO doesn't belong there. Very good player but not that good.
Guys like Gaborik and Richards have to accomplish more than they have already to earn that kind of acclaim. Richards might be closer. The one guy currently on the Rangers who looks like a definite is Henrik.
I think people are underrating the step he took this season. It is his first year as a pro. I don't think 60 points is out of the realm of possibility at all. He is a workout fiend.
What makes you think Krieder doesn't have that ability? Not to mention all the other skill sets that are superior to Hags.
I wasn't saying anything against either player, but a player could have every skill one desires but at the end of the day goals matter, if he doesn't help get the puck over that line, he should not be considered first line material.

What was said about McDonagh last season is what is said about Hagelin this year. In both cases, we have college kids with no prior professional experience who come in midway through the season and play above expectations.
In response, people just assume that this is as well as the kid will play. That's possible, but highly unlikely. Hagelin will be better next year than this year, and likely better still the following year.
80 points? Superstar? Really? I've been Hagelin's biggest proponent since day one, but you guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you're hoping for that level of play.

As always, some people set themselves up for disappointment by expecting too much. When we get a good all-around guy who can put up 50 points, people start to expect 80.
