I'm not so sure that the Sens are looking at this as winning the series necessarily. They may be looking at just getting a lot of their young guns (black aces) to be involved and around the team during the play-offs. This will give them a taste of what the playoffs are all about.
If they put MZ93 into the lineup, it will be purely so that he won't be a deer in the headlights next year. That's the only rationale I can think of unless they honestly see him as a legitamite scoring threat, but who knows?
But I think we have enough pieces with guys in the system that we shouldn't need to throw any "hail Marys".
I beg to differ but what NHL team that is in the business of winning hockey games would go into the playoffs just to get experience. These are competitive athletes who have done the best they could at every level to WIN, not just get experience. This team can compete with any team in the NHL, if they bring their A game & I expect them to come out firing on all cylinders.
They play to win, nothing else is acceptable which is why I doubt Zibane gets any playoff time unless they are losing badly 3 games to none, for example & they need a shakeup. I think that this series will be close so I expect that Maclean will go with the guys that got them here & are keeping it close. Not sure how he could put in a guy who hasn't been on the team all yr before the other guys who have all contributed throughout the yr in practise & in games. Unless he is far better than anyone you have & IMO he isn't at 18 yrs of age with very little experience.

Yup, slamigo has not been listening to MacLean. First stop, read my sig., that's a quote from him pre-season when asked about the "experts" saying the Sens should lose 75% of their games.
For the playoffs MacLean has said the emphasis is different than the regular season and basically said you don't get left out for developmental reasons if you don't have it going on, which means coaches have much more responsibility to adapt and make in game changes., etc. Stacheman will be coaching his behind off to get a win tonight.

Where is everyone getting this from? I haven't seen any links...
@PSBJoyOnTheSens
Zibanejad will NOT play for #BSens — tonight or tomorrow. He will travel to Wilkes-Barre tonight and watch both games this weekend. #Sens
Does not seem Zibanejad is injured, just worn down after a long season. #BSens would use him if he was 100 percent, but he's not. #Sens

He's 18 years old, and they play a short season in Sweden, how is he worn down????

Don't play him then. Let him rest up for next year!

You guys are misunderstanding the point. MacLean may say all the right things to the media, but the Sens are also realistic. These playoffs are a good experience for the young team. Expecting this group to go all the way is a pipe dream. He will coach to win, but this is part of building the foundation.

Apparently he may have a concussion as per Garrioch

Never talked about going all the way. He will maximize the chances to win, and coach playoff hockey, which also means a shorter lease and treating it as if you can go all the way. It underlines the difference between the regular season. 5 guys starting last night getting their first game, and a lost more with only one 6 game series of experience. I agree it is building the foundation, but disagree about the Sens taking a relaxed attitude like meh, this is just for experience.
