Definitely, Ken Holland has got to realize that putting a guy in an NHL lineup simply because he's out of waiver free trips to the AHL isn't a recipe for success. Some guys in that situation can get the job done but most guys like Kindl and Emmerton just aren't good enough to contribute on a team like Detroit.

Holland said on the Game Day Preview that now that Sheahan signed his ELC, he can't go back to the AHL. Why wouldn't they just sign him after the Griffins drop out? He'd get more games in the AHL that way.

It didn't sound impossible he could play in saturdays game (I guess it depends on if detroit wins and nashville loses so they lock up the 4th spot)

Given how mediocre Emmerton's been, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sheahan get a look. And, really, playing Emmerton 5 minutes a night in the playoffs or Sheahan 5 minutes a night, I'm not sure there'd be much of a difference -regardless of how much more seasoned Emmerton is.

I noticed on espn.com Sheahan was listed as scratched. Was he called up?

His ATO is over. He could only play 7 games with the Griffs. He'll probably spend the rest of the year as a black ace with the Wings.

11:50 remaining in the 3rd, it's 5-5.

2. GR Pare, (15) (Andersson, Ehrhardt), 4:48
2. GR Coetzee, (10) (Aubry, Raedeke), 17:32
2. GR Tatar, (23) (Pare, Ehrhardt), 18:53
3. GR Pare, (16) (Pyett, Coetzee), 0:43
3. GR Nestrasil, (3) (Thomas, Quine), 2:56

Quine!

My boy Aubry!

Tatar scoring again and Andersson with another point. Also worth mentioning Coetzee with a G+A and Nestrasil a goal, nice to see.

That assist is Joakim's 50th point of the season (21G, 29A), didn't think he had that type of scoring in him, in only his 2nd season!!

I hate ESPN haha.. For the first time this season they choose to broadcast the Griffins, and they do it when the Wings are playing playoff hockey.

I'm guessing McCollum didn't have a very good game. Is Almqvist still with the team by the way? I was expecting him to play more than he has to be honest, it's not like he's fresh to pro hockey.

Really was hoping/expecting Tatar to put up more points this season. But I read he has played some PK and rounded out this game this year, so hopefully that helps him earn a roster spot soon because I like him as a player.

The guy who disappointed me a bit was Callahan. We're not expecting a whole lot, likely just a fourth line energy guy, but he's got to produce better than that in GR to get that shot.

I dunno, watching the games he played his role very well. Is fast, hits hard, fights, agitates and didnt look useless with the puck on his stick. Mursak had a worse rookie season and look where he is now while not having that grit element that Callahan does.

He was stuck on the fourth line mostly, but I liked what I saw and wouldnt let his point production worry you about his NHL future

How is Callahan's skating? Since he's not going to score, he's going to have to move pretty quick.

For some reason I was thinking this was Callahan's second season in GR.

If we were to have a gritty 4th line/13th F energy guy with minimal offense, I'd prefer he was 6'3 220.

Man, I'm dreaming already that Griffins 2013-14 team that could be a hell of a group.

They've said that Järnkrok would go straight to NHL level, but what of not...

Player(age on 2013-14 season)

Tatar(23) - Järnkrok(22) - Jurco(21)
Tvrdon(21) - Sheahan(22) - Pulkkinen(23)
Goetzee(23) - Ferraro(22) - Parkes(22)
Quine(21) - Aubry(22) - Callahan(22)
Nestrasil(23) - Raedeke(23) - Hudon(20)

Almqvist(23) - Sproul(21)
Ouellet(20) - Jensen(23)
Lashoff(23) - Marchenko(22)
Exelby(32) - Nedomlel(20)

Mrazek(22)
McCollum(24)

Only one older defensive veteran (current captain Exelby), others 100% Wings prospect team.

Extremely comparable players, although I think the potential for Callahan is there to score a bit more. Callahan is never going to be a scorer but he can be one of those guys very capable of playing and playing rough too.

Mike Brown has only put up 15 points once in his career since the NCAA, including his time in the NCAA. But he is still very effective on the fourth line and would actually upgrade ours right now

Wings fans cant be picky. Callahan is 6 feet, almost 200 lbs. Thats more then solid enough to be a scrappy fourth liner in this NHL.
Are you really going to

Depends what you want. If we're talking about physical, tough players Aubry isnt close to Callahan in that role. Aubry is a good defensive center, who is big and will hit. Hes gotten into a few scraps and looks like he could be a decent scrapper some day, but it isnt his niche with the team.

Aubry has potential as a Paul Gaustad type I think. Good defensive fourth line center, with size that can use it, but hes not a scrapper.

Callahan is more in the Chris Neil mold then that

Yeah I'm fully aware Callahan is sandpaper and Aubry is more of a big guy that can stand up for himself when necessary. I like that we have a guy like Callahan in the organisation, but he needs to get his game on par with the pro level before I can get excited. He obviously did some scoring in the dub so we'll just have to wait and see about that. Is he 6'0" and 200 though?

Hes listed at 6 feet, 190. I dont know how accurate that is but he doesnt look small. He definitely is capable of playing physical and fighting, and is used to taking on bigger guys.

I like Aubry as the potential fourth line. A big guy, who will scrap a little bit and throw some big hits while having some skill and then having the small scrappy agitator type. Seems like their style compliment each other really well
