I didn't even realize they got that many off. LA was leading in shots in the 2nd last I checked. I guess those powerplays helped Vancouver more than I thought, given their general mishandling of them.

YESS!!

Great games by almost everyone, I especially liked Penner (what a turnaround for playoffs), Lewis with the goal for once and of course Quick and the defence as a whole playing tight, not collapsing this time. I'm actually not that nervous when the Kings lead as I used to be before, I just don't see them giving it up with their current play. Though the Canucks outside of Luongo were pretty bad. Every Kings dman played great, led by Doughty who is becoming quite the playoff performer early in his career. Smooth skating, smart play, especially in the 3rd period scrum where he played it perfectly with Hansen. I have not stats but I'm sure he played huge minutes. He seemed to be on the ice for every other shift. Also liked Voynov's play in the 3rd everytime the Canucks were entering the Kings zone, so slick with the puck.

It's funny to remember so many people predicting Kings to lose this series in 4 or 5 games. Playoffs are truly so unpredictable. That's why we fans should enjoy this now, because you never know if the Kings lost the next four. But I'm confident we will at least split the two in Staples and take the series sooner or later. I'm sure the players are quite confident as well, because they have earned this lead, they have been the better team

Loktionov was terrible. Hoping Clifford or Richardson can get back.

Heck. I wouldn't be surprised to see Westgarth Sunday.

Shut down Richards, and you need to deal with Kopi. Shut down Kopi and you need to deal with Richards. It's like flipping a coin.

Game one: AV "Okay guys we need to shut down Kopitar or he'll burn us."
Game two: AV "Alright, obviously we shut down the wrong guy last game. Let's shut down Richards tonight."
After game two: Some Canucks player: "Okay so which one do we shut down next game coach?"
AV: "Quick. Game 3 we've got to shut down Quick."
Some Canucks player: "Um coach, Quick is their goalie. How do we 'shut him down' per se?"
AV: "It's all protocal. Yeah, that's it, it's all protocal."

Hard to come up with comments after that. Other than...wow.

I thought Doughty was excellent tonight. The Kings didn't play as well as they could have and still picked up the win. This team has found their backbone at the right time.

I noticed some strange line combos and I guess that is why. It seemed the Canucks really did well when the line combos got jumbled up. I think I saw Fraser take several shifts on the Kopitar line... ???

I also noticed that the Nucks best pressure in game 1 came after Clifford went down and the line combs got jumbled up again.

Really hope Clifford can come back for game 3.

Hopefully King left his nerves in Vancouver. The kings will need the second line scoring again.

Sutter needs to talk to him and settle him down.

Voynov and Martinez looked much better tonight. Voynov was skating great.

Doughty was in defensive beast mode. Strange that Scuderi has been the weak link defensively.

Knew quick needed to steal one tonight and he still got 4 goals from the kings. Nice to see a balanced scoring team. Carter needs to pot a couple in la.

Richards-Carter-Kopitar on the pp has been bad. 2nd unit has been much better keeping it simple.

Go Kings Mother ****ing Go!!

Loki looked pretty good in very limited minutes, IMO. He won several board battles and damn near potted one in the second (put it just over the net). If he got 8-9 minutes he would have been more noticable and real solid, IMO.

Great game overall. Cap'n stepping up, that's what you need. Doughty did not play all that well with the puck, but controlled his temper well and used his mouth real well . King-Richards-Carter line was -2 Quick is the man.

If Lokti's going to be designated to 4th line use exclusively, we would probably be better off with Westy in the lineup.

It's really not a big deal either way but I wouldn't mind seeing Westy getting some ice time.

Barry said Clifford had a bad stiff neck and that he might be back for game 3.

Nolan didn't play that much either. I guess with Clifford out it kind of put our 4th line out of wack! Our 4th line was one of the more effective lines we had.

In their 42-year history, this is the first time the Canucks have dropped the opening two games of a playoff series at home.
