Allegedly this is because they don't have one of the Sedins in the line up... still waiting for Luongo to earn his greatest goalie in the world crown for once.
That was an embarrassment to the sport. If Asham(ed) and Neal aren't gone, then I won't know what to think of this league.
I already know what to think about the League; it is a joke. Whether or not an injury occurs on a play should be completely irrelevant to the disciplinary action, that alone shows them up as shortsighted idiots.
I missed it but I have seen the extended videos of the fights posted by makaveli on the main boards. Still wish I'd seen it. Missed Detroit-Nashville too.
If LA wins tonight, it's not a 100% lock they win the series but close, which means we avoid Detroit, Nashville, Chicago and Phoenix in the next round IF the Blues advance. I know I can't talk you guys out of being inexplicably more scared of LA than any of these teams but LA is clearly the most desirable of those options. The Blues are much harder for LA to beat than Vancouver because the Blues play LA's game and have been better at it all year. All opponents this time of year are tough and the West is deep so it's about matchups. LA is beating Vancouver for some of the same reasons we generally owned play against Vancouver, but it doesn't follow that that style works against the Blues. Only Crawford is a weak goalie from here on out (Schneider is very very good for Vancouver) and the Blues cannot meet Chicago next round no matter what, so round two if the Blues advance will be against some tough goalie. Quick's played a huge number of games this year. Elliott was better than Quick this year. I know this somehow sounds controversial but it just isn't. Both had many outstanding games but Quick had more soft games than Elliott. The numbers back up what I saw with my eyes watching a ton of both guys.
Again, nobody's easy but if Vancouver, Pittsburgh and Detroit get knocked out in round 1 and the Blues advance, the only remaining teams to genuinely fear are Boston and Nashville.
Jazzed about this Vancouver-LA game. Big test of Vancouver's character tonight.
I just saw the NBC replay of the Franzen spear on the bench. Hadn't even been aware of it. WOW. Does anyone think there's even a chance of Franzen being suspended for that? That's one of the dirtiest things there is. But Franzen's a top player. The rules are different for the 1%. The rules are written differently depending on who's doing the cheap stuff and who's the recipient of it. Shanahan is a perfect man of our times.
Vancouver is really forcing every play on their power play. It doesn't feel like the normal patience that they usually have, but it may be LA's aggressive kill.
Who is announcing the Canucks vs Kings game? This has to be the worst announcing I have ever heard. Usually I can get over biased announcers but I cringe every time I hear these guys talk. They aren't even trying to hide the fact they are for Canucks.
Wow, Canucks. That is a good team that's down 0-3. They wouldn't be down that much had they played Schneider from the start. The way the Blues and Kings play is the antidote against the Canucks.
Blues are close to having home ice throughout the West.

And more important, no Nashville or Detroit in the 2nd round.
Speaking of jokes, did any of the blatant head shots get suspensions from the Sharks Blues game the other night?
I don't know if the Blues did, but i remember seeing the hit on McDonald that i'm pretty sure is "what the league wants to get rid of" and a deliberate elbow to the head of Nichol in the game too.
I won't be surprised to hear no.

I guess someone forgot to tell LA the 'Nucks went to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals last year, they're like that good, what was the score in that game again? ohh yeah 0-4... kind like where the series is headed.

Technically, we no longer have home ice advantage in the series we are in. But of course, that can change tonight.
If we get past San Jose, getting LA would be huge.
If LA wins in 4 or 5, they will be pretty rested when our series starts with them. Would almost rather face the Preds or Wings after their 7 game deathmatch series.
