Chris Stewart is a healthy scratch today. Wow, talk about a fall from grace. I bet he gets traded, but im not sure we want him. Sounds like he doesnt fit in with Hitch's system, and i see no reason to think he'll do better with Trotz.
if we lose to the red wings, it will be the BIGGEST disappointment in our history and possibly missing out on a huge gift...
if LA beats VAN & SJ beats STL (both possibly and the first is likely) .. that would leave if we win our series.. NSH LA SJ PHX/CHI .. possible home ice to the finals.. and it doesn't get much easier of a path to the SCF .. LA & SJ have been tough but we have the roster to beat both in 6 imo easily..
one and done ... and I think trotz gets one more year
I wish our series had some of the intensity of the Rangers/Sens or Yotes/Blackhawks games.... those are freaking intense right now. Detroit and Nashville play too nice (except for shea) and are too defensively responsible for that brand of hockey
Quick OT random observation if I may:
With all the jersey threads one thing I haven't seen mentioned and I just realized... The Sens jersey is pretty ugly.

true. Their originals were very nice, but the team was soooo terrible that they made the jersey look bad. When I see it now I think it's a pretty sweet jersey!
It's way more fun when your team isn't involved, so you therefore avoid all the nausea, palpitations and high blood pressure and can just enjoy the thrill of it all!

In this gif you can clearly see the point at which the movement caused by the impact stops and Smith's embellishing begins. His head continues on to Smith's left which is consistent with the direction of the hit, but then it suddenly snaps back as Smith falls backwards. Right when it starts backwards Smith is embellishing, and he throws himself on his back.
With that said, I agree with what JR said. Shaw should have hit the boards to cut off the lane instead of trying to skate through there. He was entirely too close to Smith, and he made contact with only the head. He's lucky that it only looked bad because Smith sold it. It could have been much worse.
I don't think Shaw deserves a suspension. A fine maybe.
I think he'll get a game, though.

Stunned. I don't think that was faked... stupid play by Shaw. Dirty player
I think it was pretty faked, but the point is...if it wasn't, then Smith should've been taken off the ice and made to spend 15 minutes in the "Quiet Room". That's what the NHL said it would do to demonstrate how serious they are about head injuries. So either Smith was faking, or his team doesn't give a **** that he might be concussed. Gross.
Interesting article about the death of the Quiet Room here:
And another article about how some teams (in this article it talks about the Flyers) pretty much have total disregard for head injuries in their players:
