Come on, buddy, you know that's not true. I loved the way 66 played the game, but 99 was the best and thats a fact.
Anyway, I loved Kasparaitis' game, he was so much fun to watch back in the days
It's definitely not a "Fact" it's only a poplar opinion. My opinion is that Mario was the best, he was every bit as dominant, physically bigger and more talented IMO, gretzkys advantage was his unmatched hockey IQ. Mario was constantly dealing with an injury or sickness or just getting back from injury or a sickness and was rarely 100% and his stats aren't far off of gretzkys.
Mario: GP: 915 G:690 A: 1033 P: 1723 PIM: 834
Wayne: GP: 1487 G: 894 A: 1923 P: 2857*PIM: 577
Mario scored .76GPG, *1.13 APG and *1.89 PPG while being a lot more physical.
Wayne scored .75GPG, *1.29 APG, 2.04 PPG
It's certainly debatable. But I realize I'm in the minority

You absolutely have point. There is three players that are given the status of the best ever by people. Orr, Gretzky and Lemieux. Gretzky is easily the frontrunner and favorite of most. Orr gets some love and so does Lemieux. There is no wrong answer but Gretzky is the easiest to make case for. I personally rank them Gretzky, Orr and Lemieux/Howe. But it is up to you which to prefer.
Prounounced "pee-lawn" not "pylon" for those who still have hair that hasn't grown yet. Pilon also had Mario uncharacteristically on the rampage one time. I think Lemieux was close to foaming at the mouth trying to get after the guy. Pretty sure he also delivered the hit that knocked out Kevin Stevens, who subsequently smashed his face on the ice and suffered a broken nose.
About the video: Is that the same sequence where the camera from behind the net shows Kasparaitis yelling "come on!" to Mario? Awesome clip. Of course Mario just stays calm and tells him to go to the box haha.
Love it. Loved kasparaitis. Good exchange both ways. Both guys played their roles to a T. Lemieux plays the superstar victim (like he should) and draws a penalty, Kasparaitis plays the goon and tries to get Mario off his game. Just a good playoff battle.
For people criticizing Mario (or Crosby/Malkin) I don't think people realize how many cheapshots these superstars receive on a regular basis (especially guys with such great puck control ability like all 3). The majority of the shots they receive they take in stride, but when they see an opportunity to take advantage of the a situation like that, you can bet they will. They are smart competitors.
I'm not advocating diving, but to make sure that the cheapshots are noticed when they happen so often. Watch Crosby play an entire game (especially in the playoffs) and count the number of hooks and slashes he gets both in the play and away from it. It is far more than he dishes out or tries to draw calls on. I'm not justifying it as much as trying to take an unbiased approach to criticizing these superstars.
