It was on TSN weeks ago when he said he needs to spend the spring and summer preparing for what's going to happen later. Same reason Brad Richards declined last year.

Apparently he's in Winnipeg receiving treatment for a broken nose. I don't know if that's the only reason he declined.

So the guy with the most points on the team is on the third line.

That could be part of it.

Make no mistake, Tavares is the premier talent on this team, and for anyone who watched, he was last year. His line with Skinner and I can't remember the other, were unbelievable. Some of the plays JT made blew my mind. So much puck composure. I'd love to see Tavares with Eberle and Skinner.

The crazy thing is, is that RNH will probably be on the third line.

Little surprised that Ryder and Riberio aren't there... Big ice surface Ryder would rule on PP with extra bit of space...

Any chance that Smith-Pelly could get an invitation?

Zero.

You don't think Ladd and Kane will play together? Is Winnipeg connection more important or adding some size and real speed to that RNH unit?

Nice to see Sutter on coaching duties. He'll mesh well with the young-ish roster.

Skinner-Tavares-XXX
Benn-Getzlaf-Perry
Kane-RNH-Eberle
Ladd-O'Reilly-Purcell

Bouwmeester-XXX
Phanuef-XXX
Subban-Methot

Ward
Dubnyk

Just eyeing up two western series and the talent that would be available is immense (obviously not all would accept an invite)

LA - Richards, Carter, Doughty
VAN - Hamhuis, Bieksa, Burrows
CHI - Toews, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook
PHO - Doan, Whitney, Smith

Yeah... not much need to go further then that. Two of those teams will be knocked out and I think whomever goes will provide the team some excellent options (keep in mind other knockouts could include Crosby, Neal, Letang, Giroux)

You're joking right???
First :
Cross off Whitney (he is 39 )
Doan (35 yrs old)
Toews will not go after getting concussion
Crosby will not go guaranteed

LA eliminated: Richards, Carter, Doughty
Philadelphia eliminated: Giroux, Couturier, Simmonds, Coburn
Washington eliminated: Laich,Alzner ,Green

Panthers eliminated: 0

I'm confused as to what you're trying to prove?

I blatantly said "by just eyeing up two series in the 1st round there is a wealth of talent available to the World Championships team" and you come storming in like that statement is wrong, only to pretty much agree with the above statement but with LA, Was, Philly?

Doan has played in five world championships, and almost never says no to the invite. I see no reason why his age has any effect on bringing him or not (especially if this tournament has any influence on Sochi seedings).

I'm storming, i'm storming...

I only disagreed on the Whitney, Doan, Toews, Crosby names...

I'd rather take my chances on young guys ...

I agree.

Not enough prestige in WC, star players would rather take the time off.

But imagine of Pittsburgh gets knocked out? They have a couple guys who could easily make the team (Crosby, Letang, Staal, Fleury, Neal...)

Versteeg, Spezza, Vermette, Alzner, Burns, Hamhuis are probably the safest bets to get asked and also accept at this point if they got knocked out. Those are the types of players you will get.

If Pittsburgh gets knocked out, I could see Letang and Neal going perhaps. Neal more likely. Coburn, Simmonds, Giroux if Pittsburgh comes back.

Woah, Glen Heally thinks Ryan Murray might be on the team.
