Methot was great last year, probably our steadiest and most dependable defenseman on the big ice. Glad he's coming again. Staal decline. Nash Declined. Hamonic has a broken nose. Brewer is old, he's put his time in. Giordano is hurt.

So the guy with the most points on the team is on the third line.

Make no mistake, Tavares is the premier talent on this team, and for anyone who watched, he was last year. His line with Skinner and I can't remember the other, were unbelievable. Some of the plays JT made blew my mind. So much puck composure. I'd love to see Tavares with Eberle and Skinner.
The crazy thing is, is that RNH will probably be on the third line.

VAN - Hamhuis, Bieksa, Burrows
CHI - Toews, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook
PHO - Doan, Whitney, Smith
Yeah... not much need to go further then that. Two of those teams will be knocked out and I think whomever goes will provide the team some excellent options (keep in mind other knockouts could include Crosby, Neal, Letang, Giroux)

Doan has played in five world championships, and almost never says no to the invite. I see no reason why his age has any effect on bringing him or not (especially if this tournament has any influence on Sochi seedings).

I only disagreed on the Whitney, Doan, Toews, Crosby names...
Versteeg, Spezza, Vermette, Alzner, Burns, Hamhuis are probably the safest bets to get asked and also accept at this point if they got knocked out. Those are the types of players you will get.
If Pittsburgh gets knocked out, I could see Letang and Neal going perhaps. Neal more likely. Coburn, Simmonds, Giroux if Pittsburgh comes back.
