Da Boyz SR 18 lost their penultimate tune-up game before the DIV1A WJCU18 today in Piestany. They lead 2-1 until the 59th minute when Valkov tied the match for Belarus. Almost immediately in overtime Kubrakov scored the GWG.
For SR 18 it was Hrehorcak (D. Rehak, Soltes), and M. Dano (Reway, Buri). Next game is tomorrow.
It is currently 4-3 SR 18 after 40 minutes. It was a comfortable 4-1 lead but on a Belarus 4-on-3 PP, they managed to score on a scramble in front of the net. Eight seconds later Belarus made it 4-3 on a shot the goaltender probably should have had.
Reway has a couple of goals. He is the best player on the ice and could easily have more points. He has been feeding Soltes with great passes all game. I am surprised at how talented he is.
Edit: Final score 5-3 for SR 18, goals: Simun, Reway, Reway, Dano, Horansky.
Final cuts were made to SR 18 ahead of the WJCU18 Div1A next week in Piestany. Cut were defenseman Martin Chrkavý and Martin Kečkeš, along with forwards Tomáš Paleček, Ján Blaško and Denis Šimurka.
There was some speculation that Matej Paulovič and/or Patrik Koyš would be cut, but they weren't and both players have made the team. SR 18 gets things going on Wednesday with their first match against Italy.
Roster:
Goaltenders: Richard Sabol (HC '05 Banská Bystrica), Patrik Romančík (HK 36 Skalica), Denis Godla (HK Spišská Nová Ves)
Defenseman: Jakub Predajnianský (HC '05 Banská Bystrica), Patrik Luža, Michal Valjent (obaja HC Slovan Bratislava), Tomáš Rusina (MHC Mountfield Martin / MHK D. Kubín), Richard Buri (HC Nitra), Ľubomír Dinda (HK ŠKP Poprad), Peter Šohajda (HK 36 Skalica), Denis Šimek (HK Trnava)
Forwards: Mário Lunter, Eduard Šimun (obaja HC '05 Banská Bystrica), Stanislav Horanský, Dominik Rehák (obaja MsHK Žilina), Marko Daňo, Patrik Koyš, (both HK Dukla Trenčín), Milan Kolena (HC Mountfield Martin), Daniel Rzavský (HC Nitra), Dávid Gríger (HK ŠKP Poprad), Dávid Šoltés (HC Košice), Martin Reway (HC Sparta Praha /ČR), Matej Paulovič (Färjestad BK/Švéd.).
SVK 4 JPN 1, Dano 1+2, Reway 2+0 - I guess the first ever IIHF event SR goals for Reway. Dano is 4+3 for the tournament in just 2 GP and Lunter is 2+3. Japan was held to just 14 shots. Tomorrow day off and Saturday SR 18 continues against Slovenia.
Dano really does look a class above. I think that Reway is by far the most skilled of the players on show, but Marko looks to be the one who can really get it done out there.

I dont want to ruin your idea about Dano but it is Italy and Japan, come on man
You strongly overrate Daňo. He would never have 7 points if he did not play with Lunter.
The truth is that he is playing better than he played in pre-games, Vlado Dzurilla Tournament and HK Orange 20, when this team contained just U18 players.

You are of course being unnecessarily harsh on Daňo. He turned some heads at the WJCU20. He got progressively better as the tournament went on, culminating in a strong performance in the 6-4 comeback victory over Switzerland and he was 1+1 in the QF versus Finland. And, he can come back to the tournament for two more years.
I am pleased he has turned up to this current tournament, and applaud his many points regardless of who they are against - it sure beats the alternative.
Undepending on whether Daňo would or wouldn´t get his 7 points without Lunter, the fact remains that the team scored 9 goals in two games against Italy and Japan and 7 of them were scored by just one line, which seems kinda sad considering the level of the opponents...

Well the fourth line with has Koys and Paulovic has barely seen any playing time if I'm honest. Reway has had flashes of brilliance, but at times it seems he is too skillful for hi linemates Kolena and Soltes.

The lines were mixed up today. Paulovic has played with Kolena and Reway, as well as with Rzavsky and Simun. Anyhow Paulovic is 1+1 in the third period. Eduard Simun is 0+3. Slovenia has 2 goals on 4 shots.
The Rehak-Soltes-Koys line has a goal too now. The Slovene goaltender tried to do a diving poke-check, but Rehak kind of lobbed of the puck over him.
I think we just saw the first IIHF SR point for Koys. He did some good work to the right of the Slovene net, and then feathered a perfect pass for Rehak who buried it into the net. Final score SVK 8 SLO 2.
Edit: a couple of game notes: best player was Eduard Simun. The defensive pair of Michal Valjent and Patrik Luza were an impressive +5 for the game. Marko Dano leads the tournament in points, 6+3 in 3GP, David Griger leads in assists with 6.

Yeah, Koys' play on that goal was really nice. Outhustled the Slovenian defenceman and a perfect pass to Rehak.
One thing was impressive was that faceoff play they were doing. They bossed the Slovenians on the face-offs, and Simun especially, was winning the draws and getting the puck to the slot almost straight away.
Also glad that Rzavsky was okay after a nasty hit in the first period. He looked a bit shaky after that hit, but he came back to score!
SR 18 cruised to another victory. They allowed France to score first; France had 2 shots after 30 minutes and one goal. Most of the pressure was from SR but they looked nervous at the start. Finally after tying it, Reway sent Lunter on a breakaway and he blasted it point blank between the goaltender's legs for the GWG.
I can see why it is so hard being promoted. There is no let up allowed, you have to run the table. Tuesday they face Norway for all the marbles. In order for Norway to win promotion they must defeat Slovakia within regulation time. Endre Medby has as many goals as Dano, and a 95er named Markus Soberg has also looked good for Norway.
Notes: Dman Tomas Rusina was named best player versus France. The Slovaks have allowed a total of 31 shots in their last three games, (an average of 10.3 per game). The very large Richard Buri became the first Slovak defender to score in the tournament.
