Not necessarily with the #1 pick but something where the get some high end backend guys to go with the front end. And they need guys who have a few years already, not newly drafted guys. Edm is not exactly a top Ida destination either so trade is the only way
FYI, Yakupov is a RWer

Also, with these young superstars, they WILL be a top UFA destination this season. Watch how fast Ryan Suter will sign there.

Pronger is DONE. He wishes he wouldn't have listened to his wife and asked for a trade.

Jagr was great for the 20 first games, he's done.

Hossa is having a great year. But he turned down a massive contract that would have crippled the Oilers for years because of the cap.

Bottom line, these were all great non-deals.

They are heading there already. D. Sedin is concussed. He's now concussion prone. H. Sedin is getting old. Kesler is only good because he's facing easy competition, best defensemen are playing against the Sisters. Once they are gone, Kesler will be welcomed into the NHL properly.

Not hating, I just wanted to point out the fallacy in his reasoning. Plus I lol'd at the irony in the rest of your post

I agree. The Vanek offer sheet would have been a disaster too.

I'm just pointing out to the other guy that the Oilers desperately tried to avoid failing so hard in the years leading up to the 1st overall picks.

Why would people be mad? Oh yeah, I forgot. Stanley Cup winning team should get 1st pick, huh?
