Maybe it's just me but I don't think any NHL'er would go out there and demand they be paid for Olympic games.
Who "demanded" to be paid for the Olympics?
Ray Allen said it takes a lot out of you and they should maybe get something from all of the team USA jerseys they sell. Wade was then asked about it and he agreed with Allen.

Maybe they shouldn't be on the USA olympic team if they don't have the stamina for it. The notion of asking for a cut or being paid for Olympic pay is ridiculous.
Quite short sighted statements by them. First of all, I'm wiling to bet they get compensated pretty well just by being an Olympic athlete by getting various promotions (McDonalds loves to showcase athletes during the Olympics). Also, if they get paid then everyone would get paid and then what happens? There is no money left over for the funding. Also, aren't those jerseys sold to help various foundations to help kids get their Olympic dream?
Also Wade is back peddling now:
MIAMI (AP) Heat guard Dwyane Wade says money is not his motivation for the London Games this summer.
In a statement Thursday, Wade said, ''I do not want to be paid to go to the Olympics.''
Wade was quoted Wednesday saying he thinks ''guys should be compensated'' for playing over the summer and noted the schedule demands of being an Olympian. He said he was responding to a question about Olympians being paid, and never said he needed to be paid to play.
Wade later tweeted that pride for his country ''motivates me more than any $$$ amount.''
Wade played for the U.S. at Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, and has said the London Games would be his last.
Oh not this again... Yes, all those players playing in Europe are amateurs...
I never said anything about Europe's players
US should go back to amateurs ,, If NBA players are gonna act like this (And they seem to every time) then go with some kids who will embrace the chance to play in spotlight

I agree. These teams of Nba players the US sticks out there aren't as hungry as a guy who wants to prove himself. Nba guys are worried about staying healthy and having fun wherever the tournament is at.

They complained about have the olympics and all star games in the same year. Since 2006 there has not been an All star game when a winter olympics occured.
Sixers are so bad at this point I'd rather fall out of the playoffs and get a ping pong ball or 2 then make it just to lose in 4 or 5 to Miami or Chicago.

Apples and oranges, plus that's a good thing to complain about. In 98 if you were someone like Jaromir Jagr, you had to fly to Vancouver for the ASG in January then to Japan for the Olympics in February. While most of the time they are not going to be such brutal flights across the country then across the world (02 was LA & Salt Lake City), I think you'd have more players than you do now opt out of the ASG in order to save themselves for the Olympics or push for the playoffs.
If the NBA went to the winter Olympics and not the summer, you can bet you'd see the same thing and probably a lot sooner than the NHL instrumented it.
PS: Better game by the Spurs after last week's matchup vs the Lakers

Man, that's a far cry from the Eastern Conference Finals appearance that the whole city set their expectations/demands at when they were 20-9.
Now that Howard the coward is out, I bet Indiana are excited at the fact they are probably matching up against the Magic in the playoffs. Can't wait for them to start, should be even closer than last years.
