Stars sign Chiasson to Entry Level Contract

Quote:
The Dallas Stars announced today that the NHL club has agreed to terms with forward Alex Chiasson on a three-year entry-level contract. He will join Dallas’ primary development affiliate, the Texas Stars, for the remainder of their AHL season. Chiasson was Dallas’ second round selection (38th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Chiasson, 21, led Boston University in scoring this past season as a junior with 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) in 37 games, and a +18 rating. The 6-3, 202-pound forward was named a 2012 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and was honored as Hockey East Player of the Week twice this season (March 12 and Feb. 20).

“We’re excited to have Alex join the Texas Stars for the remainder of their season,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “He has had an impressive college career and we look forward to watching him continue to develop as a professional in our system.”

This caps of a nice week for the Stars organization. Sucks the players didn't make any noise in the NCAA tournament though.

Also sucks that the Texas Stars aren't headed anywhere this season either.

Still, nice to see the prospects get a taste of the pro game.

Campbell picked up his first ever pro win, here in Toronto yesterday. Hoping to see Chiasson make a quick impact as well!

He's going to be a good player for you guys. Guy bleeds hockey, wears his emotions on his sleeve. Talented two-way player. Good wheels, good playmaker.

Didn't know exactly where to put this so...

I've been thinking lately that Chiasson will turn out to be the long-term answer on Benn's right wing. His skills ought to be complimentary -- he's a good faceoff guy who can make that potential line stronger (without having to carry an offensive anchor like Ott) plus he leans toward the playmaking side of things which could allow Benn to look for his shot more. He also should be able to keep up with Benn's pace.

I agree, and hopefully Eriksson eventually finds his way on Benn's LW.

You'd have a lethal offensive line that could also check the other team's top line.

Alex Chiasson

Wings fan coming in peace...

Does anyone know if Alex Chiasson is related to former Wings/Canes D-man Steve Chiasson (RIP)?

Nothing on wikipedia.

5 goals in 5 games, Righty, 6-4, 200lbs would love to have him on our team

He's not related, no.

Chiasson is a pretty common surname in Quebec, I believe.

The 1st Chiasson thread is started by a wings fan and about whether he is related to some former redwing.

He means that the 1st ever thread about Alex Chiasson of all-time on the Dallas Stars part of the Pacific Division part of the NHL Western Conference part of the website HFBoards on the World Wide Web was started by a Red Wings fan asking if he (Alex Chiasson, the man in question) was related to a former Red Wing.

You may say, well Sir Gary Oak, this isn't the first thread about Alex Chiasson of all-time on the Dallas Stars part of the Pacific Division part of the NHL Western Conference part of the website HFBoards on the World Wide Web. You are correct!

Well I stand corrected in that case?

I still find humor in the fact that a wings fan starts a brand new Chiasson thread on our board on the day he scores a gwg that pushes them out of 8th
