St. Peter was manning the pearly gates, when a large group of Flyers fans showed up. Never having seen anyone from Philadelphia at heaven's gates, St. Peter said he would have to check with God. After hearing the news, God instructed him to admit the 10 most virtuous from the group.
A few minutes later, Saint Peter returned to God breathless and said, "They're gone."
"What?" said a bewildered God. "All of the Flyers fans have gone?"
"Yes" replied Saint Peter, "and the pearly gates. They're gone!"

it's a joke i've heard told about a million ways with different players. The gist is:
Bobby orr, wayne gretzky and gordie howe all die and meet in heaven. God is sitting waiting for them and asks howe, "gordie, what you you believe in?"
gordie answers "i believe hockey and family are the greatest things in the world and go hand in hand with making life worth living." god is moved by this and invites howe to sit with him. He asks gretzky next. "wayne, what do you believe in?"
gretzky answers "i think living your life the right way is the path to living a life worth living." god smiles at gretzky and invites him to sit in the other seat next to him.
Orr is standing there in front of god and gives him a smile as god looks at him. "bobby," god asks, "what do you believe in?"
