“I thought our third period was great. That’s exactly how you want to play when you have the lead. I thought we bottled them up. We had a couple great chances to score: Zach on the 2-on-1 and Zajac on the power play. If we finish off those, it’s a perfect period, but other than that, that’s about as good a period as you can play with the lead I think.”
“All year, we’ve tried to implement that in our game to be a solid team with the lead, especially in the third period. As of late, we’ve got a lot of success with it. That’s what we talked about. I know it’s not fun to give up two goals and get back into a hockey game in a game that we had under control, but we said, ‘This is a great opportunity.’ We were up by one goal going into the third period. If anyone would have asked us if we wanted to be in that situation, we would have taken it in a heartbeat and we just went out and played the way we can play defensively. They had what, six, seven shots? And just one or two dangerous ones.”
DeBoer and Marty. Pretty surprised they didn't spend the entire press conference harping about how much of a **** game they played and how they would have lost to any other team in the league and only won because it's the Panthers.
The Devils can play better, we get it. But the criticism of this team borders on ridiculous way too often. The day we're satisfied with a win.
Yesterday's game was par for the course for the Devils. They play good for part of the game, bad for part of the game, then back and forth with not much action for part of the game. It's been pretty much like that the whole season. It won't work if they want to go deep in the playoffs though.
If the Flyers don't stop falling behind early in games they won't go far. If the bruins or the caps don't start putting the puck in the net they won't go far. If the rangers don't start spending less time in their own zone they won't go far. Yet all those teams lead their respective series.
Every team has areas that need improvement right now.
Yes, but how much is it per liter? And isn't most of that taxes that helps to pay for free healthcare & free college for all residents? And isn't the climate warm enough and do most people live in urban environments, which would make it extremely easy to ride your bike or walk to work/school, etc?
And doesn't that tax money guarantee the NJD winning this series?
You know youre on the NJ board when they win a game and posters start biting each others heads off.
Chill. Volchenkov got burned, our 2nd period was awful, a gallon of gas is $3.90, time travel is a distant dream....but we won.
We have enough veterans to help the kids and the veterans can help themselves and if they fail at that i think the coaches can do something like, i dunno, coach.
i thought that to, but no one brought it up so i was thinking it was just me thinking that
Being at the game I particularly made it a point to watch him. I was able to have my eye on him the whole time, and he was having one of those games. He has them every so often. The Chicago game was the last time he had a similar type game.
He wasn't a blunder like Volchenkov, but he was nothing worth bragging about.

Cool story bro. I live 25 miles away from my school.

exactly, but we need him and Parise to be dominating in the playoffs
Parise was almost invisible and the one chance he had he choked on it. He had a chance to wrap up the game by scoring on that great chance.
However let us talk about the good stuff ....
1 playoff win ... gravy
Marty playing well and winning this game .... gravy
Zubrus was outstanding out there .. gravy
Peter Harrold with some pretty solid play .... gravy
It is all gravy. I expected nothing from this team this season and already they have surpassed what I thought they would do. They ended up with more than the 95 to 96 points I thought they would have at most. 6th seed. Now we got 1 playoff win ... Go Devils !!!
