Yup, absolutely brutal penalty to take. The worst part is, I am pretty sure he was just trying to throw a nice check to keep the pressure on, and his arm just slid right up Alfie's in to his head. The kid obviously did not intend to go head hunting.

Got to look at what they did good this game, and there was lots of good, just too many times where they took the foot off the gas.

Ottawa took what they gave them at the end. Two big mistakes by Hagelin and MDZ.

All three goals were benefits of lucky bounces.

The first two were extremely lucky, imo. Between those and the constant trips & then basically a 7 min power play it was still tied after 60min.

Anderson is due for a stinker.

I think Boyle not getting the GWG after getting jumped pisses me off the most.

**** them.

Can't believe no one has said play Kreider yet lol

That was some pathetic defense again in the 3rd period...What is this **** with playing soft defense on a 1 goal lead.....This is not a 3 goal lead.

Brutal stuff with Dubinsky getting thrown out too...Is mcdonaugh okay?

funny how these panzie ottowa fans go from wishing us a good series hoping for a good game from both sides, to growing a set because they squeezed out a win in overtime and talking **** about how tough their team is.

Why is anyone worried?

We got this. Number one seed. Give this team some credit ffs
Because this kind of **** always seems to happen to the Rangers.

Ottawa has won something like 12 of their last 15 games at MSG...ALL the same way...take advanatge of the bad bounces and bad breaks. After a while, it's not luck. They know how to beat the Rangers at the Garden.

Yeah it's going to be a long series.

A lot of the post-lockout 1-8's have been 6 or 7 game series.

Expect the exact same thing from Ottawa in game 3 -- lots of hitting, crashing the net, two man screens and shots from the point.

Mcdonough took that slap shot right in the privates, that's gotta hurt especially when Neil scores right after and than falls on top of you.

Triple Ouch!

Was at the game, so frustrating to watch this team sit back all through the 3rd.

Knew it was only a matter of time before they coughed up the lead

A loss like this can teach a young team some valuable lessons, and it will also be a good measuring stick of the team's willingness to battle through adversity.

To be fair, that was as tough and gutsy a win as a team could have on the road against a top seed.

It's getting annoying that we say this **** so many times throughout the season.

Good post. Every Rangers fan should've expected this to be a tough series. Only the foolish ones would expect it to be over in 4. Next game will show a lot about a young team's level of resilience.

Fwiw I would be very surprised if Hagelin got suspended.

He's going to be suspended at least 2 games

I agree, but I still think the point holds. And also figure in that numerous players on the roster are a bit short on playoff experience, especially into the deep rounds.

I'm not too worried -- just think how Pens' fans feel.

After going the the Giants' ordeal a few months ago, i dont get worried about a Game 2 loss in a Best of 7.

Don't think anyone expected them to win in 4.

What was expected, is to beat an inferior (and short handed) opponent at home.

I feel the opposite way. High elbow on a semi-star player who left and didn't return -- I think Hagelin gets a game or two.

so i'm assuming you watched the highlights only...anyone who watched the entire game along with the 3 period of game 1 knows there is plenty to be worried about.

How many times has the team come back after a tough "lesson learning" loss like this and played very well in the next game? Most times they have.

I think a lot of us (including me) forget we have a young team and for many it's their first time in the playoffs. I think Hagelin's hit epitomizes this -- he obviously wasn't trying to hurt Alfredsson but I think he got a little too emotional, tried to make a big hit, and next thing you know you got an elbow up and knocked the guy out of the game and are sitting for 5.

Let it burn and come out strong in Game 3.

tough to lose this game in last 5 minutes. I hope Rangers will eliminate the mistakes in defense -allowing Sens easily cross the blue line, I have seen them doing that better at start of the season- and start passing better when moving from their D- a lot of pucks were just overturned because they could not pass right on tape.
