I'm getting irritated by some people (not in this forum) who are saying how great Pouliot is and why did the Wild let him go? Ummm....how many years did it take Dorkfish? And how many teams did he go through? All to get to ONE decent season.
Yeah. Exactly. Get back to me in a few years on that one.

That one season where Latendresse scored 25 goals in 3/4 of the year trumps anything Pouliot's done.

Smith really needs to go to the quiet room after that. They shouldn't keep him in the game.
no kidding they should, after the amount of time he spent vancouvering behind his net.
well i guess he figured if he hit Toews and his team got a 2 min pp out of it, why not crappy flop to draw a major?
you guys don't think Smith was pulling a Luongo?
that crap is worse than actually hitting the goalie
He took a helmet directly to the face. If that didn't screw up his neck, it still probably hurt pretty bad. It might not have been as bad as he made it look, but even without seeing him flopping around on the ice after the play, I would have demanded he go to the quiet room and would have assumed he wasn't returning.

it seems as though that little thing went away somewhere in the middle of the season. he was holding/rubbing his face, not his neck, as i recall.

Yeah, from the way he finally reacted when getting up, it was almost as if his mask come forward and smashed into his face instead of remaining more or less rigid. I don't know enough about goalie masks to know whether that's how their supposed to work though.
I don't like Ottawa but for some reason I do like Paul Maclean. He just seems like a very respectable guy that kind of quietly just goes about his business. He's really done a great job with the Sens this year. And of course. . . . . . DAT STACHE!!!!!
So does anyone else have a feeling that today's games could end up erupting in an explosion of pure violence? Nashville and Detroit pretty much HATE eachother, the Flyers and Penguins are lighting eachother up like christmas trees, and the Nucks are probably boiling over with pure frustration as the Kings have dominated them.

Nucks don't have the guts or personnel to do anything that stupid. That's doubly true when they're playing an LA team that likes sticking up for themselves.
The same thing goes for Detroit/Nashville. Unless Bertuzzi does something Bertuzzi-esque, I can't see anyone on those teams stepping over the line.
Philly-Pittsburgh could have something go down I guess. Also, are New Jersey and Florida still having a playoff series? I had to actually look up who the fourth pairing playing tonight was.
I am expecting **** to happen in the NYR/OTT series. Just wait til one of these teams are on the verge of elimination, between NYR and DET, one of them will blow up.
******* squirrels!!!! our outside line has "significant squirrel chew" according to a tech who was servicing another house. coming tomorrow morning to fix it. in the meantime i'm forced to watch eye-wateringly horrible standard definition hockey.

If you have an HD TV, just plug some unshielded cable into the antenna slot. The first two games today are on NBC so you should get HD OTA.
