That wasn't good. Guessing Markstrom starts tomorrow, but a shorter leash.
And if you want to know who I am tomorrow I'll be the one rocking back and forth breathing in a bag. This will be the first time I'll be missing a Penguins playoff game so I'll be nervous about that and hoping the Rampage get into the playoffs.
Don't really understand why you would start Marky 3 days in a row. It is not like your other goalie hasn't been good.
Marks has been one of the top goalies in the league for the last 2 months. All they needed was a point. (Or a Charlotte loss) Coach rode the hot hand and would've started DGM today had they clinched.
DGM hasn't played in several weeks and when he did play, he gave up 6 goals. This is Jacob's team, win or lose.
Jon Matsumoto scores the OT winner as the Rampage beat Texas 4-3. Team is now only one point away from clinching a playoff berth. On to Houston tomorrow night. Go Rampage
was at the game. off the opening faceoff, deryluk backed up, went D to D softly and put it *right* on the forechecker's stick, leading to a breakaway 5 seconds in. not a good start! both teams had difficulty generating opportunities tho houston was able to get in close on marky a couple of times in the 1st and during one scramble, timmins actually made a glove save with an open net and batted the puck to the corner. shots were close at the end of the first but the aeros were to start the 2nd on the PP. we went to grab a beer during the first intermission and because of the long lines (the place was fuller than it has been at any other game we've been to), we missed the first aeros goal, just 20 seconds or so into the 2nd. the next two goals came in rapid succession and both looked very stoppable. the 2nd was on the rush and was from the high slot. marky might've been screened a bit but it wasn't a good goal. after the third goal, which came on a 2v2 where the aeros crossed at the blue line and the puck carrier set up his teammate for a one-timer from the far half-wall. it was a nice set up and nice shot but (poor gap control on D) but the shot shouldn't have gotten thru from there. marky was yanked after that goal but things only got worse and the aeros got a 4th goal on the PP a short bit later. the team was shell-shocked. after a pretty neutral first period, a few breaks for the aeros turned it into a rout in no time.
kearns got the rampage on the board, banging in a rebound in close late in the 2nd to stop the bleeding and give the team a hope in the 3rd. after rallo split two D to get to a headman pass and bang it past hackett midway thru the 3rd, there was some more hope. the shots started piling up and SA was finally into the game emotionally and physically. the shots were 21-9 at one point but by the 2nd half of the 3rd period, they were close to even at around 26-24. when yonkman kept the puck in at the blue line, pounded it toward the net and got a tip-in with around 3 minutes left, it seemed like the tying goal would be inevitable. unfortunately, we got a slashing penalty while buzzing around the offensive zone a minute later and that was pretty much that.
petro played. he and robak look very smooth (they were paired for much of the night) but we didn't really get much transition from the D. some of that, you can attribute to houston's desperation and forecheck (tho houston haven't been terribly good at that this year, at least in the game's i've seen). shore played but he was getting bottom six minutes. we didn't get to see much of him offensively as the only real offensive pressure came in the 3rd at the opposite end and thanks to our good but low seats, much was obscured down there.
in short, nobody really stood out, good or bad. strachan played a ton but wasn't that impressive at either end. he was hurt trying to prevent the empty net goal at the end when he slid into the goal post. he was down for a while but skated off on his own, tho hunched over.
Yeah I just question playing any goalie 3 straight games. DGM plays last night you have a rested Marky for today. Plus he already hurt his knee once; playing tired is a good way to get hurt.
Congrats to the Rampage as well. I listened to the game and hope Repik is ok for the playoffs. Im happy with the matchup also as the Rampage beat Chicago all four times they played them this season. Game One is Thursday night I believe in San Antonio. Best 3 out of 5 series. Go Rampage
Markstrom and the guys looked really happy at the end, it was nice to see considering the drought. Thursday will be my first AHL playoff game (always had other things going on before). Nice to be excited for Rampage hockey this late.

Yes the game is here Thursday, due to us having to work around the Spurs schedule, atleast this is what I was told by my ticket rep.
This could also be why we are going to start the series:

Today's game reminded me of a playoff game, I guess the fellas are ready. Bring on the Wolves!
Great to see the Rampage getting into the playoffs.
Markstrom sounds like he has been playing really well recently. Hopefully he can continue that into the playoffs. Can't wait to see him full time in the NHL.
A little disappointed they didn't end up playing the Marlies (someone had told me earlier last week they could end up matching up) since I would've headed down to watch our boys!!
Playoff experience all around = winning culture! Let's go boys!
Does anyone still have one of those flyers for the Kearns shirt at Macy's? I seem to have lost mine and only remember it is from the 16-23 and you need to spend $35. But does it say which locations and if you really need the voucher?

Any Macy's location and yes, you need the voucher.
DN are you surprised Chicago decided to have to 1st two games on the road? I know three in a row at home sounds nice, but When you are playing a team you havnt beat all year, it would be nice to have the home ice 1st.
Just wondered and noticed...San Antonio had one more point than Rochester this season. But both are in the playoffs - would love if somehow these two teams managed to advance and face each other in the conference finals, and it would be sweet justice to those Rochester fans if the Panthers' new affiliate ousted them from contention.
We haven't seen any of the problems with San Antonio that we saw with Rochester, strongly suggesting that it was Rochester's management, not the new Dale Tallon regime in Florida, that was causing all the problems and failures of the last year of the affiliation agreement.
btw - good luck to the Rampage tomorrow night - we're all pulling for a series win
