No clue where he'll sign, but I did pass him in the grocery store today at lunch.

not sure if I do either. however Jokinen leaving and Cammalleri playing center is a very real possibility as well and as I see it with Cammy on the wing we have 1 open spot on the wing (i think most would agree the other 6 wingers are pretty much in stone) likely on the 3rd line. However if Cammalleri moves to center we have 2 winger holes and are suddenly in need of a top 6 winger. IMO if we were to go after Huselius that would be the preferable circumstance as it would still leave the 3rd line RW slot open for one of Nemisz, Horak, Byron or Aliu.

Likely won't get many calls from cup contenders, but maybe he could be something for the teams who fails to land the top free agent wingers this summer? Shouldn't cost much.

Sounds like a good fit for the Pens. Believe they were interested in him back when he was a free agent and signed with the Blue Jackets. They usually are looking for older guys like Huselius that are wingers.

Flames just should not bother with him. No disrespect but hopefully they aim anybody else, even keeping Moss over getting Juice. He's just not what he used to be.

A team with a serious lack of wingers might take a chance. Islanders, Stars, Jets, Hurricanes, Coyotes all could have a need. And they all have a history of reclamation projects.
The Isles actually have a lot of wingers and need centers.

I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the other teams you listed sign him, Coyotes especially. Hurricanes could use some depth and it doesn't look like there will be a lot of top six players in FA this year.

Wherever he signs I'm quite certain it will be a 1 year deal. He'll want to prove he's healthy and can contribute and, if so, the following season might get a 2-3 year deal to end his career.

Depending on what the off season brings for Columbus, I wouldn't mind seeing him back but only on a very good contract (ie. < $2MM). The guy has skill, just a bad last two seasons due to injury. He isn't getting any younger and the last injury was to his groin which is significant for a player of his type (Shifty)

I think he ends up signing for under a million for 1 year but will have bonuses tacked on. He could end up with a $3 million cap hit with bonuses though

if he is confident he can bounce back and the team isn't a bonus laden contract could work well for both sides.

Say he gets a 700k base salary, a 300k bonus if he plays 50+ games, another 300k if he plays 75+. so he gets 1.3 million just for being healthy, now add in bonuses for performance. Give him 500k for 15 goals, an additional 350k if he reaches 20 goals. Give him 500k for 35 points, am additional 350k if he reaches 50 points. So he would have a $3,000,000 cap hit at a low risk to the team but high reward to Huselius. I don't think any team has an issue paying players to be successful, so if Huselius is confident in his abilities he could go this route.

I also don't know if my idea is cap compliant.

I could see Ottawa having a tiny bit of interest. Most Sens fans on HF will disagree because we have so many potential forwards breakng out and pushing for icetime and roster spots. But they are unproven and Huselius is Swedish and a LW, our weakest position. He is also older, but he is also available and cheap and if a 1 year deal works he could sign for 2 or 3 more.

I could see Murray contemplating signing him. $1 million base contract one way. $1.5 bonus if he reaches 75 games. $1 million bonus for 60 games. $500K bonus for 20 goals. Games bonuses are not independent of each other. So 60 games is a $2 mllion salary. 75 games is $2.5. 20 goals and 60 games is $2.5 million. 75 games and 20 goals is $3 million... his max earning potential. All based on passing a physical July 1st.

Just something that could be considered by Ottawa. They have the cap room and could use a vet LW goal scorer on the top 2 lines with Spezza or Turris.

We are getting Penner for a reclaimation project didn't you hear?

I could see this happening if Alfie retires, just to add a vet to the mix.

I don't know if Huselius is the kind of veteran you want to replace Alfie, he isn't exactly the leader type

Dallas needs a least one more Top 6 winger. Two if Morrow doesn't heal and return to his old form. For the right price, it would be a good risk to take.

I want to see Columbus resign him, the offense is just flat out better with him in the lineup than without him.

Detroit might take a flyer on him, since he's a Swede, but I don't know if he'd fit.

I'd like to see Calgary sign him on the cheap as a pp/shootout specialist, instead of another f-ing goon.
